L.W.Miller Wins Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour Opener At Caraway Speedway

L.W. Miller received an early Easter present tonight in winning the Nascar Whelen Southern Modified

Tour 150 opener held at Caraway Speedway.Miller,the hard charger from Mooresville held off the advances

of Ted Christopher,Plainville,Ct. to score the opening night win for the Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour

Division in his quest to win back to back championships.

Tim Brown,Cana,Va. set fast time in his Hayes Jewelers Chevy with a time of 15.829 around the quick .455

of a mile speedplant.Brown drew the #8 pill in the draw and when the race began,Mount Airy driver Frank

Fleming was on the pole flanked by L.W. Miller on the outside of row one.Fleming led 26 of the finest drivers

to the drop of the green flag and 150 laps of up close,in your face, mighty mod action had started.Fleming

held off the advances of Miller thur the first 60 laps of competion as the top 8 drivers ran nose to tail with Brown

in 3rd place followed by George Brunnhoelzl,III,West Babylon,N.Y.and Christopher moving into the top five.Thomas

Stinson,Richmond,Va. brought out the caution flag and on the restart, Miller wrestled the lead away from Fleming.

Brown,Christopher and Brian Loftin,Lexington were coming on strong and by lap 125 Miller was leading Brown,Christopher,Loftin

and Fleming who rounded out the top five.

Ted Christopher was a man on a mission and with 20 laps to go was up to 2nd place,looking for a way around

the leader when a major accident that involved Jay Foley,Stuart,Va. and others brought out the red flag.A classic

southern-style modified shootout was set up but Miller had the car to beat as he roared under the waving checkered

flag just in front of Christopher.Brian Loftin brought his Chevy home in 3rd place as Tim Brown and Bobby Grigas,III

rounded out the top 5 finisher's.

L.W.Miller pulled his Baker Plumbing and Utilites Chevy into victory lane after the hard earned win and thanked

his family,his friends,his crew and all of his fans for his victory.Miller is now the early season points leader heading

into next weekend's Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour event in Kenly,N.C.at Southern National Speedway.

Whelen Southern Modified Tour Opener This Weekend At Caraway Speedway

The finest stars and cars of Nascar's oldest touring division,the mighty modifieds

will shake the foothills around Asheboro this coming Saturday night,March 22,2008

as the Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour opens at Caraway Speedway.L.W. Miller,

Mooresville won last year's event and was the Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion as

well.Miller will face a strong field of competitors once again as both the Whelen Southern Modified Tour

and Whelen Modified Tour will be well represented.

"Young Gun"Matt Hirschman,Northampton,Pa.,will make the trip down as well as Ted Christopher,Plainville,Conn.,

Jamie Tomaino,Howell,N.J. plus a host of others from the north .Ronnie Silk,Norwalk,Conn.will pilot the

"Hillbilly Racing" mod #79 of Roger Hill during the 2008 Whelen Modified Tour season.

The South will roar into Caraway Speedway with the Myers boys,Jr. Miller in his own modified,Brian Loftin

and Andy Seuss who is now behind the wheel of the Riggs Racing modified.The teams will all be gunning

for the 1st win of the 2008 Whelen Southern Modified Tour season and those championship points.

Burton Wins Thriller At Bristol

Jeff Burton,the Virginia Gentleman from South Boston has captured the Nascar Sprint Series

event today in Bristol,Tenn.Burton roared to victory after Denny Hamlin had fuel pickup problems

once again while leading with 2 laps to go in the event.Burton grabbed the victory after being in 5th

place on lap 497.Hamlin had the lead with 2 to go and that's when things got crazy,Bristol style.

Harvick slid into Stewart and Burton was up to 2nd after gettiny by Stewart and Harvick behind Hamlin

when the caution flew freezing the field with 2 laps to go.Burton got a great restart and held off teammates

Harvick and Bowyer for the victory.Burton and his family,his RCR ATT Chevy lead by crew chief Scott

Miller and crew gave Richard Childress his first 1,2,3, sweep in company history and all celebrated in

victory lane!

Greg Biffle and Earnhardt,Jr. rounded out the Top 5 finisher's in the classic short track shootout that

had the 160,00 fans on their feet.The Sprint Series is off this coming weekend for Easter but race fans

the Whelen Southern Modified Tour opener is set for Saturday night,March the 22nd from Caraway Speedway

in Asheboro,N.C..The Nascar Sprint Series resumes in 2 weeks from beautiful Martinsville,Va. with the

Busch Makes History Winning Kobalt 500 In "Hot"Lanta

"Young Gun"Kyle Busch has made history today in winning the Kobalt Tools

500 held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.The Las Vegas native has become the

youngest driver to win at Atlanta in the Nascar Sprint Series;Busch gives Toyota

their 1st Sprint Series victory and is the 1st winner in a foreign nameplate since Al Keller

went to victory lane in a Jag in 1954.Busch drove his Snicker's Toyota to victory

lane ahead of teammate Tony Stewart to give TRD and Joe Gibbs Racing a 1-2 finish.

Busch Thanked his crew lead by Steve Addington,longtime JGR member Jimmy Makar,

sponsor's Interstate Batteries,M&M'S and Joe Gibbs from victory lane.

Roaring under the checkered flag in 3rd place was the series most popular driver, Dale

Earnhardt,Jr. who grabbed the spot in the closing laps from Greg Biffle who came home in 4th

place.Jeff Gordon rounded out the top 5 finisher's in his Chevy.

"Rowdy"Busch has now won 2 of the 3 races run this weekend in "Hot"Lanta and who knows

what might have happened yesterday had he not blown that tire.Stewart had nothing

good to say about today's tires but tires were not an issue for the younger Busch.

This coming weekend the show moves to Bristol,Tenn.By the Grace Of GOD and 600 Horsepower!

Ryan Newman Wins 50th Running Of The Daytona 500

Ryan Newman,the "Hoosier Hotshoe" has won the 50th running of the Daytona 500.

Newman grabbed the lead for good on the final lap after a push from teammate Kurt

Busch propelled him into the lead thur turns 3 and 4.Newman broke a 2 year victory

lane drought in his Penske Racing,Alltel,Mobile 1,Kodak Dodge to score his first Daytona 500

victory.Newman thanked his family,his teammate Busch,his crew chief and crew and his

car owner Roger Penske from victory lane.

Kurt Busch brought his Dodge across the stripe in 2nd place followed by the Toyota's of

Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch with Reed Sorenson rounding out the top 5 finishers.

Ryan Newman collected over 1.5 million dollars for winning the event plus a one of a kind,

gold Harley Earl trophy to celebrate the 50th running of the Great American Race.This week's

Atta Boy Award goes to ISC for the Excellent pre-race show.Next weekend the traveling Allstar's

DAWG'S Dominate 2008 Allstate Sugar Bowl With 41 to 10 Victory

The Georgia Bulldogs completely dominated the 2008 Allstate Sugar Bowl with a 41 to 10 victory

over the Hawaiian Warriors in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.The Dawg's were running on all 8 cylinders

as Moreno scored 2 first half touchdowns,Bailey(you can't keep those Bailey boys down) scored

1 touchdown and Couto kicked a 52 yard field goal for a 24 to 3 halftime lead.

The Dawg's continued to roll in the 2nd half as Howard scored a touchdown and Brown scored a

touchdown after sacking Hawaiian QB,Brennan and recovering the fumble in the end zone to score

the touchdown.Coutu kicked a 48 yard field goal in the 4th quarter to make the final score 41 to 10.

Hawaiian QB,Brennan was sacked 8 times;4 times by Howard who was named the Allstate outstanding

player of the game.Georgia forced 6 turnovers by Hawaii to set a new BCS record.Coach Richt now

has 5 bowl game wins since becoming the Georgia head football coach.Georgia finishes their season

with an 11 and 2 record and Hawaii finishes their season at 12 and 1 after their first BCS bowl appearance.

Georgia should be the 2008 National Champs but fans of the Dawg Nation will now have to wait until

Kenseth Wins Ford 400,Jimmie Johnson Wins NNC Championship

Matt Kenseth drove his Roush/Fenway Dewalt Tools Ford Fusion to victory today in Homestead,FL.

Kenseth dominated the event,turning back all that challenged him for the lead.Kurt Busch had a great

run in his Dodge to roar under the stripe in the runner up position to end the season on a positive note

with the "Virginia Gentleman"Denny Hamlin bringing his Chevy home in 3rd place.Jeff Gordon and his

Chevy crossed under the waving checkered flag in 4th place with Carl Edwards rounding out the top 5

finishers.Kenseth thanked his crew chief,Robbie Reiser,his crew,car owner Jack Roush,his sponsors,

wife,family and friends from victory lane.

Jimmie Johnson has now won back to back championships as he clinched the 2007 Nascar Nextel

Cup Championship with a strong 7th place finish in today's event.Johnson thanked his car owner,Rick

Hendrick,his crew chief Chad Knaus,his crew,the entire Hendrick Motorsports Group,his wife Chandra,

Lowe's and all of his other sponsor's for a great 2007 racing season.Race fans,I hope you all enjoyed

the 2007 Nascar Nextel Cup season as much as I enjoyed writing about it for you,just remember the

Nascar Sprint Cup season is only a few months away but all the teams will start working toward's it

Johnny Benson Wins NCTS Ford 200,Hornaday Wins NCTS Championship

Johnny Benson passed race leader Rowdy Busch after a late race caution set up a green,white,

checkered flag finish to win tonight's Ford 200 Nascar Craftsman Truck Series Event from

Homestead,FL..Benson had his Exide Batteries,Toyota Tundra in the wind over the last 3 laps

and thanked his truck owners,Bill and Gail Davis,his crew and crew chief,Trip Bruce,his sponsors

and family and friends from victory lane.Kyle Busch brought his Chevy home in 2nd place followed

by Rick Crawford and his Ford in 3rd place when the checkered flag flew.Kevin Harvick and Jason

Leffler rounded out the top 5 finisher's in the 25th and final race of the season for the Nascar

Craftsman Truck Series.

Ron Hornaday is your 2007 Nascar Craftsman Truck Series Champion after roaring under the checkered

flag with a great 7th place finish in tonight's event.The 49 year old youngster clinched his 3rd NCTS

Championship after his main rival for the championship,Mike Skinner lost his left rear wheel midway

thur the event.Ron thanked his sponsors,Camping World,Chevy,RCR and his car owners,Delana and

Kevin Harvick plus his crew and crew chief,Rick Ren for a fantastic 2007 racing season.This was the

1st Championship for K.H.I. after 6 years of racing in the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series.Willie Allen

won the 2007 Nascar Craftsman Truck Series Rookie Of The Year Award.2007 Nascar Modified Champ

Donny Lia finished in 25th place in his 1st run for Harris Trucking.Race fans,the 2007 NCTS season is

in the books but Daytona is right around the corner so make plans now to see one of the best show's of

now the Hendrick Motorsports,Lowes Chevy Team of driver Jimmie Johnson,crew chief Chad Knaus,

the crew members and everyone back at the shop are red hot.Johnson picked up his 4th win in a

row,his 10th victory of the 2007 Nascar Nextel Cup Series and his 32nd cup victory today out in

Avondale,Ariz..Johnson once again thanked his sponsors,Mr. Hendrick,Chad and his multi-talented

crew,his wife and fans from victory lane.Johnson also increased his points lead to 86 points over his

teammate Jeff Gordon."Da Biff",Greg Biffle had a great run after the last caution flag of the day to bring

his Ford home in second place with teammate Matt Kenseth crossing under the stripe in 3rd place.

Tony Stewart had a strong run in his Chevy after a trying day to roar under the waving checkered

flag in 4th place with the "Rocket Man"Ryan Newman grabbing 5th in his Dodge at the end of the event.

This weeks "Atta Boy" Award goes to Jeff Gordon for his class act and sportsmanship shown in

victory lane.Well race fans,only 1 to go and this week's show in Homestead,Fl. should be another
