Alonso's Going to NASCAR ......

Or so it may seem by the recent influx of drivers to the series. Could it be that far-fetched? Juan Pablo's done it and Jacques Villeneuve made the leap as well.

So maybe the time is ripe for Alonso to make the move. It might seem plausible if there were any worthy rides left for next year's Sprint season, but I can't really see him jumping ship for RYR or any of the other struggling teams.

But where's he going to go in Formula One? Back to his former team with which he won his championship? They sure struggled this year, hardly putting up a fight. And his rumored move to Ferrari was squashed by the team's contract extension of Felipe Massa. BMW, maybe?

Whichever team, I can't see him having much better of a chance for the title next year, if this year is any indication.

Alonso is too talented to step away from F1. Montoya is a great driver, but Alonso is a proven champion and I think he'd be stupid to take a pay cut and go to NASCAR, especially since Alonso could probably pick just about any team he wants and get hired. Plus, there's not really any good team in NASCAR that would be able to take him, minus RCR with a 4th car.

Alonso wont go to nascar, i dont think he has any desire to be in the States.  Also, no way anyone in nascar could pay him what he would make from the likes of toyota or even going back to renault.  If i had a guess id say he will end up in Ralf's seat.

Alonso is staying in F1.
He will not go to Toyota. He can be an ass, but he's no sell-out. He can't go to any of Mclaren's 'principal rivals'. With the exeption of Ferrari that's seems a bit vague.
Flavio wants him, so a swap for Kovalainen is a real possibility. I do think Renault should keep Kovalainen and drop Fisi.
There is also talk of a 3-way swap that would move Kovalainen to McLaren, Webber to Renault and Alonso to Red Bull paired with Ross Braun.
My bet is Kovalainen will be at McClaren and Alsonso will be driving something powered by Renault.

If he were 32, NASCAR would be a possibility....but Alonso is still relatively young, so he'll stay in F1.

My money is on Honda.....sure, they were crap this year, but they have the money ---- and Barichello is easily expendable
