Can Johnson Repeat?

Jimmie Johnson's name doesn't exactly radiate when you mention the greatest drivers in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series history. However, he might just creep into that list if he's able to repeat as champion this season. That last guy to repeat is his so-called mentor, Jeff Gordon, who won back-to-back titles in 1997 and 1998.

Can he do it? I think so. Even though he had a very tough summer, he and his team have ounce again found the magic at the right time. They put together a string of incredible finishes during The Chase last year, and I think he'll be just as consistent this year.

There are a lot of guys who have a great shot at it. Certainly don't count out Gordon himself, Tony Stewart or even Kurt Busch. But, if you're going to put your money on any one of the 12 drivers, you might want to throw it in Johnson's direction. There's a lot to be said for consistency, and Johnson and his team seem to have found it again.

There is no question that Jimmie Johnson can repeat winning the championship this year. He is part of the winning combination in Hendrick Motorsports. Of course, the other top contender is Jimmie's boss and mentor, Jeff Gordon. For years now Rick Hendrick has enjoyed the best cars, motors, crew chiefs, and of course, drivers. And how about next year? I'm all goosey thinking about Dale Jr. joining the team. If you think Tony Stewart whines a lot now, wait until he has to contend with Hendrick's drivers next year.

Yes!! and he will. I dont understand why no one has a said anything about his wins total. they were giving stewart praise for having 30% win but i know JJ is hire then that he has 28 wins in 6 years or so.

Jimmie Johnson has to be the favorite going in this chase. He is the most recent winner of the championship and he's once again made the chase. One of one two guys to have done that in all four years, so there is very little pressure on him to prove that he can get it done, so he is very comfortable and calm and those two things along with solid finishes will push J.J to a second Nextel Cup.
