nascar ratings
I was just wondering with hms having all the talent as well as jr. how long will it take for people to get bored watching the same drivers win every week and turn the tv channel to something a little less predictable.I think nascar better watch out or indy as wel as F-1 are going to get a lot more fans.

I have the same concern. What has fed the NASCAR explosion over the past fifteen or twenty years has been the great individual rivalries, not the great "teams." I think we were much more likely to see rivalries before the rise of the multi-car teams. Regardless of what some commentators may think, we fans do not come week after week to the tracks or watch telivised races just to see cars go round and round a circle. There has to be some element of surprise and athletic tension to feed viewer and fan interest. Why do you think qualifying is so dull now that the top 35 are automatic? It has no meaning! The races may become the same.

I was always a huge Petty fan, and I loved to see him win. But what made the wins and losses so sweet or bitter were his rivalries with Pearson, Baker, Waltrip, and others. Didn't we all enjoy watching Earnhardt, Waltrip, Gant, Baker and others constantly fighting to win? Who will ever forget the fight between Donnie Allison and Cale Yarborough at Daytona? Will Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. now have the same rivalry since both are driving (to all intents and purposes) the same car? For the same team?

Bottom Line: $$$! Question? When will $$$ = $$ = $ = 0?
