Lets talk about the RPM/Yates merger. For RPM, I think it's a good thing. No.1, they are affiliating themselves with one of the best engineering teams in NASCAR right now (Rouch/Yates racing). They are bringing solid sponcership to the table, solid teams that have been together for several years in some cases (9 & 19), and the best known name in motorsports (Richard Petty).
Now the downside. With Chrysler bringing out it's new R6 engine this year, it has shown some promice. Look at Kahne's most recent win. Ford has struggled this year with horsepower, and even though it is said that a new Ford engine is in the works, we still don't know when that will be.
The other downside is Paul Menard. I think it would have been wiser to keep Reed Sorenson in that 43 car, or even put Jamie McMurray in that car, both are having better seasons this year then Paul.
I don't think Paul Menard belongs in Sprint Cup Racing. He's only there because of his father's money. He doesn't have the talent needed for the sport. RPM should keep Sorenson in the 43 or even put McMurry in that car.
