I have been watching this whole brew-ah-ha over the #8 that is currently assigned to DEI.  There were rumors all about that there was a possibility that Teresa might let it go to Hendrick's with JR but as we learned the other day, an agreement couldn't be reached between the two so the #8 is going to stay at DEI.  In my opinion, and again, just my two cents, this was probably the worst thing that DEI could have done.  After all, so many people associate the 8 Car w/ Junior.  What's going to happen when he moves to another number?  His fans are going to follow.  No one I know that watches NASCAR pulls for a particular driver just because he has a certain number on his car.  :-)

JR has done a great job building his fan base and no matter what happens this year they are all going to follow him over to Hendricks and be sporting Hats, Jackets, T-Shirts, and probably even tattoos with his new number on it.  All that it appears DEI might have done was to possibly tick off a pretty large group of fans by not letting the #8 go.

Here's a question I have tho, isn't JR still a part owner of DEI?

Here's my two cents on the whole Harvick and Montoya feud that started this past weekend during an "altercation" that transpired after the two traded paint at The Glen.  Don't get me wrong, I like both drivers, I have followed Montoya's career for a while and was probably more excited about him coming to NASCAR than anyone I know, and I have to also say that Harvick is also one of my favorite drivers on the track, he's a lot of fun to watch.

With all of that being said, I have to say that for such a small dude, Harvick sure does have a temper on him, it's a wonder to me that he hasn't crossed the wrong person before now.  There's nothing wrong with losing your cool, heck NASCAR is a tense sport that is full of emotion and adrenaline, but mouthing off to someone bigger than you or who the world knows can wax your behind is a matter of common sense I would think.  I remember in the past when Harvick mouthed off at Ricky Rudd, and was pretty convinced that he wanted some of Rudd too, but stood on the hood of his car until his pit crew could run 100 yards to stand in front of him before he started moving toward Rudd.

In the incident at the Glen, Harvick or Montoya neither one took their helmets on, or really even acted like they knew how to throw a punch, it really looked like to me they were checking out each others helmets moreso than anything else.  I think that it was simply a case of one of them was scared and the other one was glad, which one is which I will leave you to decide.

Also, in closing, I think that it would be good to mention for the record that they were both victims of Truex's slip up and neither one of them were really at fault.  It's going to be interesting watching these two dudes duke it out the rest of the season.
