Well.....just watched the Nascar " commercial banquet " . Was not impressed at all. BORING!! 2 minutes of on-stage activity and 10 minutes of Jimmie Johnson and commercials. Corporate America has truly taken over what WAS one time a great sport. And Lowes.....talk about tooting your own company horn ! And Allstate...great Nascar sponsor??.....selling out the people in New Orleans and other coastal areas. But does anyone see that ? Oh no ! Did anyone remember the true pioneers of Nascar ?? I must have missed that too during all the commercials . One highlight of the whole mess....?? Mark Martin.....one true real individual with more CLASS than the entire room full of people.....the real Racer in a room full of "racing people" .....none can hold a candle (or Mark's driving gloves !) to him !! The true UNCROWNED CHAMPION !! Needless to say , will not waste time watching this next year.
Hello to all you fans! Just a point of note....Does anyone remember what Big Bill France Sr. said long ago about his sport......Nascar racing ?? Look back. Check your history books. And what do we have today ....?? The C.O.T. , and Toyota , and all the costs involved in racing , and all the "corporate america" presence in " our sport " ? Is this what Big Bill would have wanted ?? Growth and progress......for sure. But what have we really lost here ?? Who is really in "" the driver's seat "" at Nascar ? Oh sure , the France family are billionaires by now . It's just not the same anymore. Nascar racing. It's all controlled by big business and the car companies , the media , etc.. etc.... Ok , I've said my piece. And by the way .....thank God for the speedy recovery of Benny Parsons ( a true racing legend! ) , glad to see him back !! And let's all get behind a real racer.....Ward Burton !! Hey Ward, it's been too long ,buddy!! Welcome back!! And maybe Petty Enterprises will recover someday.....?? C'mon Kyle! And will somebody PLEASE kick Brian Vickers butt and send him back to Arby's or at least to driver's education class ?? And to close.......Hey Dale Jr. !!!! Give em' hell !!!!!!
