CHANGE the CHASE!

Its time for a change of pace in the chase for the championship! I thought it would be good...and in its original form maybe it was...but now you add two more mediocre drivers to the chase and the leader going in could possibly be in dead last when the chase starts. Basically what France has done is tell the top tier teams the first 26 races don't matter. You get 10 points for every race you win, big deal...thats 2 positions on the track...They reward those guys who cant compete the idea that they can still win the championship and tell anyone who has been consistant screw you...big deal you led in the points for 10, 15, 26 weeks.....so what Stremme has consistently finished in the top 20...so now we'll give him the slight chance of winning a championship...when i first heard of the chase i called it the "Dale Jr" rule...a way for the 2nd tier teams to compete for a championship, now they've added the "McMurray" rule...a way for the 3rd tier to compete....this is the biggest screw job in all of sports....how does it compare to other sports....Do other sports even the field after the regular season....No the leader going in has Homefield, cant do that here though obviously....but to put other guys ahead of the regular season leader is nothing short of stupid....Hell i say go back to Nascar in its original format....or change the way you do the points...dont give a man in dead last the same chance as the guy in First....The guy in first busted his ass to get where he was at...while some loser loafs into 12th place....

Thinking outside the box:

Why not go to a real playoff system....Driver verses Driver....How would it work....

12 teams, 4 weeks....

week one....wild card weekend....

top 4 get a bye

bottom 8 go head to head .....(using the points as of right now....) at Atlanta

5 Burton vs 12 Dale Jr, 6 kyle vs 11 Edwards, 7 Stewart vs 10 Bowyer, 8 Harvickvs9Busch

just say all the top seeds win

so the next week at Texas

Gordon vs Harvick, Johnson vs Stewart, Kenseth vs Busch, Hamlin vs Burton

at Pheonix Gordon vs. Hamlin, and Johnson vs. Hamlin.

and at Homstead the final drivers face off....

This makes as much if not more sense than what we currently have....If you want to reward wins then give more so they can make the playoffs, then let the win speak for itself in the playoffs...the obstacle would be of coarse...the drivers who missed....they would still be racing...so would there be "extra" team work!

While we are thinking outside the box, think about this, if a tree falls in the woods....

I'm all for making the Chase better or making the Chase go away, but it seems to me that there are about 20-30 things that NASCAR needs to change before worrying about fixing the Chase. How about making the racing better? And throwing a damn caution when somebody blows up even if Gordon is in the lead.

Wow...you are such a typical Hendrick fan. First off, without the Chase the end of the season would be boring for just about everyone except hendrick fans. It is like a playoff system and the wins a driver earns gives them more points which is like getting that home field advantage. Plus, it makes drivers try harder those first 26 races because championships have been decided by less than 20 points before which makes those extra 10 points per win very crucial. Jimmie and Jeff will have 30 and 40 more points than anyone else without a win and that is a lot more than just two spots on the track, especially if you are not in the top five.

Also, I don't know where you are getting this "put regular guys ahead of the regular season leader" business. Are you referring to Jimmie Johnson? Regardless, because NASCAR gives extra points for winning that would make it a "Jeff Gordon" rule since apparently he and his hendrick buddies are the ones benefitting because they are the ones winning. Is winning not supposed to be the most important aspect of any sport?

And the playoff idea is kinda out there. What about the rest of the field and the dollars those sponsors have paid for them to race? Do you think a race at Texas would be that exciting with only 12 cars on the track compared to 43? Or better yet, imagine the 1 driver vs 1 driver idea, what happens when the other driver gets way out infront of the other, that's going to be boring. At least with a full field they have lap traffic and crashes to deal with. Talk about green flag runs! Plus even though the non top 12 aren't going for a championship, they are still fighting for points positions and the money those spots pay at the end, as well as getting into the top 35 in points for qualifying next year.

Giving the guy in last a chance is what makes the chase to the cup more exciting. That is why the chase was created so one car at least has to fight for the championship at the end of the year instead of just play conservative

yes the tree does make a sound...

The racing will never be better un less their at bristol, martinsville, or Homestead....the racing will be long and drawn out....and no suprise another Gordon victory....another complain....ya know, for ppl who call Jeff a Whiner....you all whine an awful lot!

When refering to the "Dale Jr" rule....i was refering to the chase inits original format.....and i did'nt say send the other drivers home.....thats why i thought maybe there would be "extra" teamwork during the race....and i dont care if its now or before when stewart won the championship....the best team should win....not the luckiest team in the final 10 races....
