What happened to NASCAR?
I know that Nascar is more popular than ever, but what happened.  The racing is more boring than ever.  NASCAR stands for national association for stock car auto racing.  What is stock about any of it anymore?  The cars don't look anything like their stock counterparts.  They haven't looked stock since the late 80's to early 90's.  I know nascar is trying to make nascar more competetive, but in all reality they are turning it into a 4 manufacturer iroc series and we all know how that ended.  Nascar shouldn't be trying to even the cars up.  If anything that takes the competition out of the sport.  Teams should be able to take a truly stock car as was whan NASCAR started and do their best to tune the car and go out each week and try to win based on their performance and their performance only.  NASCAR is going the right way trying to improve safety with the hans device and other safety equipment , but the COT has made NASCAR anything but stock car racing.  Nascar is more a money sport, just like any other stick and ball sport.  Anymore, I would rather go to the local dirt track down the road where I can watch guys who work a 9 to 5  all week get home and work on their cars that they build from something they pulled out of a junkyard and turn it into a finely tuned stock car. They race for as little as $500 to win and in alot of cases they spend every extra penny  they have  on their car.  That's  how  99 percent  of nascar driver's  got their start and  NASCAR has moved so far away from it's roots.  NASCAR  needs  to  go back to it's roots and make it true stock car racing  or  I feel it will fall  just like IROC did.
