THE STEWART MOVE

I love NASCAR. I have many "favorite" drivers. Stewart is definitely NOT one of them. And for many reasons. His bad attitude. His immaturity. His uncontrollable anger. And mostly, his self grandising ego. I believe he doesn't drive for the usual reasons. He drives purely for the glory. The adoration. He's always up front when he does well. But when he does badly, he ducks and runs. He has no loyalty to fans or sponsors. He proved that when he was penalized for refusing to speak to the media when he had a bad race. If you don't know, media interviews are contractrially required. And one other thing obvious to me. Have you noticed that Stewart has the so-called "flu" more times than all the other drivers combined? Last weekend he once again couldn't complete a race. Why. His symptoms again were sickness and dehydration. Very interesting. Those are exactly the same symptoms of a "hangover". Is he drinking, partying, and coddling his adoring female fans the night before a race? I believe these are some of the reasons Joe Gibbs is so willing to release Stewart from his contract early. I'm tickled he wants to spread his wings and go on his own. I'm certain he will fall on his face. Like he probably does now the night before a race. I believe his current success is due to his good, but not great driving, and the power and greatness of JGR. We shall see. And hopefully we shall also see a great young driver named Lagano in the orange #20. If Lagano does get the ride, look out Hendricks and RCR.

Roofflap. J. Johnson and J. Gordon both have georgeous wives. They look men in the eye, not their backsides like Stewart does. Hmmm. And why do you have such a crush on him?

***, now that's funny, if you are a homophobe then how do you explain having respect for Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. ;)

Regardless, Stewart is a great driver. Deal with it. True race fans see NASCAR for what it has become. A spectacle and a circus. Stewart is as close to old school NASCAR as any driver on the circuit, but you wouldn't understand. Back in the day, drivers used to be hard *** and speak their mind. The drivers weren't young cookie cutter sponsor robots.

Okay Roofflap. I'll digress a little on two things. First, the fact that you like, and I don't like Stewart is normal fan reaction. I respect your right to root for whomever you wish. The difference between us is that I am a NASCAR fan. I don't root for one particular driver, but rather, I root for those drivers who race good, clean races. Drivers who promote the sport in a good way. Drivers that other drivers can trust racing side by side with and not worry about their immature temper and dirty driving like they do of Stewart. Of these, there are and were many. Some are Dale Jarrett, Bill Elliott, the whole Petty family, J. Johnson, J. Gordon, the Burton brothers, the Labonte brothers, etc. These are the guys that hold my respect. My second digression is about the comment I made in my first blog above, asking if Stewart was maybe 'coddling his adoring female fans the night before a race.' Last weekend at the Chicago race, a NASCAR insider told me something that knocked me off my seat. He said,'What female fans? He may be coddling, but when have you ever seen Stewart with a female?' Wow!! I never would have thought it. That sure explains his constant 'hissyfits' and that grubby beard he usually has trying to make his little stature look macho. Now I have to add 'yuck' to my feelings of him.

He isn't a good driver because he is a great driver.

So his name has value. Right. Whether you like it or not. He is allowing others to use his popularity for their gain. I think that's being a nice guy.

Tony Stewart is a great driver whether you like him or not. To not acknowledge his accomplishments is being irrational and dishonest.

Even you have to understand Stewart's desire to be a car owner. Although, I agree trying to build a successful team from basically a Hendrick's satellite team will be very tough. Unlike you, I'm hoping that he succeeds. Wishing someone to fail is immature and selfish.

You're right Roofflapmouth. Stewart isn't a good driver. Or a good sport. And his charity expenses are PAID FOR!!! They use his name. He gets more glory.

So Stewart's move is just an excuse for you to slam the guy? ***. Granted, Stewart has his issues and if you don't like him fine, but to start assuming the guy is partying to much etc... Is ridiculous.

If you are in the business of judging people then consider all the factors. The guy also does alot of good things like the Prelude To The Dream charity race for the Victory Junction Gang.

Even if you don't like the guy, to say that he is just a good driver is plain stupid. Stewart is a great driver. One of only two drivers to win the USAC triple crown not to mention an IROC championship and a two time cup champion.

It's ok to have drivers that you don't like, but let's be honest about their ability. You can call him an ahole, but you can't call him a good driver.
