So Long Sadler?

BROOKLYN, Michigan - Not surprisingly, the Dale Earnhardt Jr. sweepstakes has triggered a frenzy of possibilities for 2008 on the driver-team lineup front.

With Kyle Busch now the top free agent for the Class of 2007, where he'll land is the hot topic here at Michigan this weekend.

A story that is making the rounds is that Busch is bound for Evernham Motorsports and not just as a fourth team member, as Evernham has stated his intention of growing his stable by one for next year. Reports have Busch a candidate to replace Elliott Sadler, who joined the team less than a year ago.

Sadler is said to be very unhappy with things at Evernham and may be granted his release, paving the way for Busch to join Evernham, who covets his services.

That of course would beg the question of where Sadler would be headed.

Right now it appears that Evernham, RCR, JGR and Ginn Racing are all investigating the possibility of adding fourth teams for 2008, in order to get in under the wire for NASCAR's team cap in 2009.

Throw in the open seat and possible addition at DEI and Sadler would be someone who probably wouldn't be without a home for very long if he indeed parts ways with Evernham.

Stay tuned, "Silly Season" is already in high gear.

Seems the only way Sadler can finish in the top five in a race is to cross the finish line on his roof. On the otherside this would be the second driver to have a problem with the same team the first being Mayfield. That is two veteran drivers with similiar complaints brings up some questions of priorities.

The 'Un-Candyman' has a history of misguided and regretted business decisions, precipitated by poor advice and lack of necessary and proper research and planning. Not enough thought is given to future ramifications and Sadler, not the brightest bulb in the NASCAR chandelier has a reputation for not focusing and not studying, rather preferring the Pretty Boy-Goof Off role. As a mature (?) adult, of more than 30 years of age, he must face the reality of "growing up", and acting his age. The good old country boy image has become tiresome and ineffective.
Sadler needs to get professional guidance and surround himself with knowledgeable assistance and advice rather than hunting buddies, high school friends and relatives.
He has basically "pissed away" the last several years of his life and the sun is about to set on his lackluster career. He is no Dale Earnhardt, Jr., marketing wise, and will be fortunate to find another ride, another golden opportunity and another place to blame others for his shortcomings.
Time is up for Mr. Sweetness....it's time to pay the piper. Joining the confused, arrested development inflicted Evernham was a critical mistake caused by once again, not doing the homework necessary to make an informed, quality decision.
Someone is probably missing those M&M's very much.
The candy is always greener on the other side of the garage.......
If another opportunity materializes, somebody had beter make the most of it.
Yes ! Leave Crazy Ray and his natterings. He is in over his juvenile head and things are not likely to improve with the # 9, #10 and the #19 any time soon, no matter how much $$$ comes to the organization. Money cannot buy everything.....

Sadler just has the leftover's of the curse of Mayfield in that 19 car.

He should go to Petty Enterprises and get it done :)

Wow, I think I have seen this before. That Deja vu is a strong feeling!

Sadler's credibility is gone!

How about Busch to Ginn, or does Hendricks want nothing to do with him?

This doesn't surprise me at all.  Sadler has been known to turn tail and run when the going gets tough.  The only thing that is missing is the month or so of denials from Sadler, Evernham and a few others.

It was just about 365 days ago Sadler was claiming all was well at RYR and we know how that turned out.

WHY on Earth would Evernham want to re-sign Riggs??  He just missed ANOTHER race with a poor qualifying attempt at Sears Point.  Riggs has NEVER been in contention for a win since he went to Cup in 2004.  He wasn't gonna beat Tony at Texas last year as he was wrecking himself before the incident with Harvick.

Ray should hire Biffle & Kyle Busch.  Those two would add a LOT to Evernham.  Elliott's gotta stop the rumors that he is unhappy & willing to jump ship.

Ray Evernham said Tuesday that Elliott isn't going anywhere and neither is Kasey or Scott. Scott is about to have his contract renewed, Elliott has a few years left on his, and Kasey's is long term.

If there are any changes at Evernham Motorsports, they'll most likely be personel changes (no crew chief changes expected), the addition of George Gillette, and possibly a fourth team.

This was all straight from Ray's mouth.

According to someone in the know, there is a good chance Jeremy Mayfield will driving for Richard Childress next season in the #30 car. Childress has always liked Mayfield and thinks he can do for him what he has done for Jeff Burton. My source, who I know from working at a newspaper and works closely with BDR in the Truck Series, said talks have been going back and forth. Mayfield, who basically has no sponsor and has been left hanging by BDR as it focuses all its attention on Dave Blaney and the CAT sponsor. Childress would rather have a stable driver such as Mayfield, instead of wild one Kyle Busch. If something should happen, it can't be announced until after the season because of Mayfield's contract.
