Silent Shrub
Kyle Busch is without a doubt one of the most talented drivers to come along in NASCAR history.

However his childish behavior when things don't go his way needs to stop.

Last Saturday's double disappointment at Dover was the latest example of how Busch needs to change his ways in dealing with the media which is the conduit to fans.

I understand the disappointment and frustration Busch must be feeling these days as he continually leads and dominates races but seems to run into one problem or another to keep him from victory lane.

But the disappearing act after one of these mishaps takes place is old.

Like it or not Busch needs to fill in the blanks when he is the story, as he was Saturday in the Nationwide and truck series races, even if the day doesn't end with a checkered flag. It's easy to stand up in front of the media when you're successful and Busch has had his share of those moments.

However the other part of the job is to take your lumps when things aren't so peachy and provide a comment and/or explanation of what happened.

I'm still not sure whether Busch had a tire go down, was run into by teammate Joey Logano or if it was a combination of both that ultimately ended his Nationwide effort Saturday. It would have been nice of Busch could have found the time to let the assembled media know those facts, which could have then been relayed to fans.

By skulking off, backing his car down the backstretch into the garage or jumping out of the truck and running out the tunnel all Busch is doing to reinforcing the reputation as a sore loser.

I don't expect him to be happy about losing. If I were one of his fans I would expect nothing less than a win at all costs attitude. But I would also expect the courtesy of being able to subdue his emotions long enough to communicate some facts and provide insight.

That would be the mark of a driver who deserves complete respect - win or lose.

Pete, he owes you nothing. The irony here is that the press is coming off like a group of whiney, spoiled children.
By-the-way, isn't it time for you to make the first of your two yearly posts whining about Pocono because you think it's too long? I guess it's not fair to ask you to work more than a couple of hours on Sunday afternoons.

Kyle is a brat because he won't satisfy YOUR need for gossip? neato.

Kyle will be covered each and every time he wins a race. (and maybe if he doesn't, maybe) It's what puts food on reporter's tables.

Yeah, grow up Kyle. Stop being so darn good and begin to act like a puppet for masses.

boo hoo is right.
As stated in another thread here, the media just wants some juicy soundbites to froth over. Since he doesn't satisfy that, bloggers like Pete are forced to make assumptions.

Go Kyle! keep up the great work.

Pete, someone else had a good idea, and one that would kinda force the sponsor to get him in line. Next time he wins, don't cover him, interview 2nd 3rd and 4th, let him set in victory lane with his crew. He might not figure things out, but the sponsor will, and Old Man Gibbs might have a word with him. It is time for this 23 year old brat to grow up a little.

Oh boo who - I'm a long time Jeff Gordon fan so I'm used to a driver who is totally acessable no matter his finish, but you are wanting to have your cake & eat it too, here. As a part of the media, KB IS your bread & butter right now. He's a passionate kid.... he often speaks before his mind is in gear. So if he stays around and gives y'all an interview you can tsk tsk tsk about - you ***. If he thinks it is better to walk away before he acts like a little kid, tsk tsk tsk - you ***... He'll mature in time - although some of the greats of the past NEVER did...
