Doggone Shame
Rookie Michael McDowell made National headlines earlier this month with his horrific crash at Texas Motor Speedway, but should they be using the crash to make a buck?

One of McDowell’s first NASCAR t-shirts released last week showed his totaled Aaron’s No. 00 Toyota on the back.

I’m not exactly sure this is what McDowell had in mind for his fans to be wearing at the track. Some might think the shirt is actually funny, but here’s what the shirt said on the back:

Brand new Toyota Camry: $200,000
Stress Tested SAFER Barrier: $50,000
Soiled Uniform: $2,500

Being the Real Lucky Dog: Priceless

I’m going to disagree on this shirt ever being produced. It sounds like a shirt a bootlegger would be selling in the parking lot or across the street from the track.

I think it was in bad taste, but what do I know it probably will become a big seller.

What’s next a qualifying crash replica 1/24 scale No. 00 Toyota?

It was a cleaver way to make a point I suppose, but considering how many have not walked away in getting to this point in safety, I agree with Wack.

I thought the shirt was tacky. I get the sentiment behind it, but it still doesn't make it right.

Thank God, Sr., and NASCAR that he walked away...

Was the #1 seller in the RacingOne.com Store last week!

If they felt this was the way to go they could have done it better; I found it cute right up to the uniform part. Demeans the kid and them; I've watched his conduct every since Jeff Burton warned him to learn or get learned...
He was very classy in the way he handled himself and deserves better than this. I agree that it is priceless that he walked away shook up but unhurt and I'm very glad he did because I look forward to watching this kids career.

Eh...

Some deal with adversity/tragedy with dark humor. I wouldn't say it was in bad taste, but it does get McDowell, Aaron's, and Toyota exposure.

I'll bet it sells better than a regular shirt with an unknown like McDowell on it.

...and the priceless part of the deal IS that he walked away from that crash, so it seems to me they are rejoicing in that.
