Don't follow drag racing that closely but I found this article and thought it was interesting.

What could Bruton do for NHRA?

He can continue to build his state-of-the art drag strip and promote it. He need not to anything else. I don't want to go to an NHRA national event and have to have ties to a sponsor or have a deep pocket in order to get into the pits. We don't want a hundred thousand fans in attendance. Would ruin it. I can sit in the stands of a national NHRA event and enjoy every minute. At the dozen + Napscar races I've been too, most partied for 48 hours straight prior to th race, enjoyed the opening ceremony and the first 15 laps. Then everyone is waiting for the checker to be thrown. The *** things never end---round and round and round and the sound never stops, can't talk to anyone and only the racing radio saves you from having a clue as to whats going on. Then trying to get out of the place? I'll watch napscar on tv, there I have 70 cameras and a dozen people figuring out whats going on for me. TV - ok at the track - 4 to 5 hrs of bore
