Rights to photos posted in galleries

Since the privacy, legal & credits, etc. at the bottom of the pages does not seem functional yet, and I can't find this info anywhere else, I thought I'd ask here...

Do members posting photos in the galleries here (or content on their blogs, for that matter) still retain all rights to their photos?  I don't want to utilize the gallery feature if it means giving rights to my photos to R1.  Thanks in advance for your speedy clarification on this matter!

Um, hello?  Any answer?  I received an administrative PM on 7/24 stating I would get an answer "the next day."  12 days later, no answer.

So there will be no uncredited, non-compensated usage of any race or other pictures by RacingOne, its owners, or any affiliates?  That is what I want to be clear on before I am willing to utilize the gallery feature.

NoRide said simply put. Things are never quite that simple. Racingone.com should have a Terms of Usage agreement. I think we all had to agree to it prior to signing up.

Your pictures are your proprietary and intellectual property, and this site is free to do with them what they will ON THIS SITE ONLY, because you have essentially given them permission to do so by posting them at R1. 

However, that does not mean they can alter, resell or otherwise profit from those pictures without written permission from you. Simply put, they may reproduce those photos to promote this site without giving you attribution, but they do not own the rights to your picture. It's not as simple as NoRide implies.

One other point to ponder. Look for some good software that will protect your pictures. I'd worry less about this site ripping you off than I would the members who copy the pictures we post. With a few exceptions, I only post stuff I don't care about people copying.
