I think Martz, on the HH site, said THE KING lost a motor in his heat race!

How about a blown motor in his heat.  Oh yes, that can happen even to the "old guys" that some like to put down.  If you look closely he is still in 4th place on the WoO point list.  There are several younger drivers that would love to trade spots with him.

While Kinser had bad finishes the last few races I think he is still capable of running with the young guys. He has been having some trouble with his neck and just found out that he will need surgery to correct the problem. So he is not 100 precent , I think he is just hanging in there trying to finish the season out. While at Chico he flipped twice and I'm sure that didn't do anything.to help the injury. Hope this sheds some light on what you guys are taking about. He still has a couple good years left in him yet!

Whats happening is FATHER TIME having his way with the King!! He is 55 freakin years old. Hes DONE...its OVER...this is the END of the line! Can he still pull off the (now VERY) occasional win...sure. The bottom line is that he is simply TOO OLD to be doing this.  2 wins with 8 to go...do we need more proof? Hes in 4th place (points)...lol!!  If thats now the margin of "success" for STEVE KINSER...well...it further confirms that it really is OVER.

He has ZERO to prove...and I doubt he needs the money. NOBODY beats the physical effects of aging. The longer he stays in the seat, the greater the risk...and for WHAT at this point? Mario, AJ, King Richard...they all stayed a bit too long. Thankfully, they all avoided serious  injury in those last questionable days. Lets hope the King can do the same. I dont want to see him stay that one race too long. It simply cant be argued, the mental sharpness...the hand eye coordination and all physical skills ERODE. At 55, its time to sail off with the legacy of being the greatest dirt track racer of all time in hand.

Being on a Sprint Car team for 20 years you can't imagine how difficult it is to walk away from something you have been doing you love so much. If Steve still enjoys it I say go for it.

Again...55 years old...you dont simply BOUNCE BACK from  SURGERY and hop into a freakin sprint car like its NOTHING. Jeezuz. Some of you just refuse to believe this guy is HUMAN! Its OVER for him...period. If he comes back next year he will be lucky to win another 2-4 races.  Fragile back...busted wing...pushing 60...racing one of the most dangerous and physically demanding forms of motorsports..."he will be back NEXT year"...ya...ok. You might wanna put down the pipe now.

So what if he only wins a couple of races?
If the guy loves what he's doing, I say go for it. It's his decision. Granted it's not like his hay-day when he was winning 20+ each year, but it's not like he's struggeling to qualify either. It's his choice.

He would probably make a half a mil a year on his souveniers along I would think.  It would be hard to quit but I see it coming soon also.
