Milwaukee then Texas on the Schedule
8/10/2006 2:34 PM
"While not confirmed, IRL officials hinted that Texas Motor Speedway would have their event the weekend following the event at The Milwaukee Mile during a teleconference with the media."

Not a big shock...but had to share

Barnhart and George do not have a collective I.Q  of 70.  You turn down a date of 100k people continuing your big track go fast image  at a modern facility to go race for 25k people in Milwaukee at a not so modern facility.

Brilliant.

I don't know how old you are, but for many, many years the Milwaukee Mile race was always scheduled after the Indy 500.   It's called tradition.

You can have all the tradition you want but that does not change market forces. If you are trying to project you series as the fastest major league series. Then you give people 4 big races in a row. If you want to project to America that people are actually interested  in you series then you show them huge crowds.

Its no different on the other side of the fence either. You had a small contingent rant and rave about Road America. As a result we have ended one drivers career and for the seame reasons  nobody will show up this time just like they didn't last time.

But it's tradition...................

Ever think to consider spreading out your biggest draws?  One event building on another?  Using the success of a big event to build a smaller one?  BTW it's 30K+.  Look for more next year.

I thought the '05 and the '06 IRL Milwaukee races had solid turnouts.   A lot better than Homestead.   A lot better than Watkins Glen.   A lot better than the '05 Infineon race.    The only reason the IRL lost the date after the Indy 500 was because of  Carl Haas' contract with the track and fair.    It wasn't until the contract ran out for when Tony George and the IndyCar Series jumped on the opportunity to acquire the track back.    Where is Kris Economaki to give the specifics to this?

That has already been tried. The television network  which buys one race and is saddled with The IRL as a penalty determined it didn't work. That's why the season was contracted.

Trying to Hi Jack History at Watkins Glen didn't work either.

Ever hear of exposure windows and capitalizing on opportunity? If you have a short widow based around the key event making the most of it? Projecting Image?

Does not say much for the season opener... Watkins Glen and Infinion were disasters.

If Stick were correct in he crowd estimate that would mean the stamds were 70%-75% of capacity. Try again.

You would have been better off going to Texas and having two strong dates in a row.

Kinda hard to make this claim when the season will be expanded by 2-4 races next year?
