Happy Birthday Tom Me
2/3/2008 1:13 PM
For my birthday I ordered two models.
Bobby Allen's 1a. His wheel stand at Rolling Wheels instilled my love in Sprint Cars.

And AJ Foyt's Dirt Champ car. I love Chevy's but damn I'm drawn to the dark side.

Yah Yah Yah, I know GMP Sprint cars have plastic wings. Blah blah blah.
BA is special to me. And Foyt as a driver? If you question this don't bother replying. Just go to your local psychiatric hospital.

Happy Birthday Billy. I've got the Bobby Allen shark car and it's a neat car. Don't have that A.J. Foyt car though. Think this is the first time I've seen it. You can't top A.J. as a driver. I'll be 65 in July and I was lucky enough to see A.J. drive everything including offroad. The only driver I can think of that's come close is Tony Stewart. GMP and Action has changed some but they are still the best diecasts made. I have an A.J. autographed pewter sprinter and a black chrome sprinter and an autographed pix of him. Wouldn't take anything for them. Got them at the Hall of Fame museum auction. Have fun collecting and have a happy one.

Just found the A.J. car on ebay. Blue and red one. I had seen it in blue before. Red is alot better looking. Trying to collect commerative cars now. Just bid on a Devil's Bowl car. Got a couple of Eldora cars, winged and non winged, a Knoxville car and a NARC car. Wasn't paying attention and lost the bid on a Eagle's Speedway car. Still looking. Just pre-ordered a Danny Smith 1980 Gambler car and a Joey Saldana #9.

Thanks! The last four years I have given my father the four Indy winners. Stewart does come close, but you cannot forget Mario. He only won Indy once, but he did win Daytona, an F1 Silver Crown championship. He really missed the Le Mans victory though. It was a though call for me to decide between the Foyt and an Amoretti car. The one other name I would throw out would be Mark Donohue. I was only lucky enough to see to Indy-car races and they were at Trenton, NJ, but I will never forget them. They were the first "professional" races I saw. The first was the year that Bobby Unser had the Viceroy car with the canard wings. I would like to find a model of one of those.

I got an autographed Mario champ car at the HOF museum auction at Eldora last July. I got to see him race Nascar [ Grand Nationals ] and got to see Troy at Riverside Raceway in Calif. in Grand Nationals and Indy cars. There seems to be an emergence of diecasts starting to be made of the older cars. The Danny Smith 1980 car was a pre-order. Hopefully they'll realize there is a market for these cars. Oh, it was in the mid 60s that I went to Riverside. One of the first dates with my wife was at one of those races. Almost forgot, I took some pixs at that race and I came across them not too long ago.

Thanks for the support during my B-Day.
The cars arrived yesterday - Very Nice.
I just checked the site and the Foyt car is now $50 ,ore than when I bought it!
I didn't buy as an investment. I bought them because I liked them.
The fine Swiss government graciously accepted my $30 donation for importing.
Hmm.... What next????
