Ya get a chance, see WoO late models

Saw the Grand Forks, ND 50 lapper Friday night.  37 cars, what a show.  Watching Brady Smith and Lanigan battle thru the field threading their way thru traffic for 50 laps was unreal.   Never saw a big time super late model show before.  Imagine the Lucas Oil series is the same.  The late model board is dead, anyone know which of these two series is sort of the top dog in late models?

I went to the first WoO LM show they had about three years ago, and it was like sitting at the tracks watching the train go by. One groove track and no passing at all.

Couldnt agree more with sprintman. If the WoO are "the greatest show on dirt" those Outlaw late models are the greatest BORE on dirt. Im sure they are a bit more enjoyable on a bullring but they are a total snooze fest on any larger track. There is a good reason why the late model board is DEAD...so are the late models. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Depends on how the track is whether or not it's "The Greatest Show on Dirt" or not. A dry-slick, rubber down track is going to have little or no passing, but a good tacky track is quite the opposite. Nothing different from a sprint car show really.

Besides, the worst race I ever saw wasn't too darned bad. Better than a day at work anytime. Enjoy the atmosphere, the friends, the other fans and chatting with the drivers afterwards.

"the greatest show on dirt" usually is boring on big tracks period. sprints or latemodels. they need more I-55's, U.S 36's, etc.

I went to a big LM show at Lernerville a few years ago.  Thank God it was rained out.  Cho Choo!

I've seen countless numbers of great late model races. Occasionally some are boring. But the area that I live in is highly populated with fast late models.

I saw that Grand Forks,ND WoO late model show 3 years ago also.  Zero passing.  The drivers requested "no water" on track.  When the leaders caught the last place car, after about 5 laps, that was it.  The leader actually followed the last place car for 35 laps, right on its bumper.  Never seen anything like it before.  No one dared step out into the other groove.

I have to agree with you CVH.  I grew up down in the area that Delmus Conley and his boys are from.  I knew Delmus quite well but his boys came along and started racing after I left.  I understand they do okay.  Delmus can remember when your home track was called "Atomic Speedway."  Now I'm really dating myself....huh?  I can just see Eldora Three jumping all over this.  He is beside himself now that he has found someone older than him.
