Who's NEXT to win their first race in Daytona Prot
3/27/2007 9:38 AM

With SigalSport winning at Homestead, the number of Daytona Prototype teams that have been to Victory Lane continue to increase.

First off hats off to Grand-Am competition for producing another first-time winner in that division.

Question is, who will be the next team to break into the win column for the first time? The way the series is going, nobody is a sure bet to run away with this championship. There are several strong teams with a shot at the podium every week, and a threat to contend for championship honors. No, I am not neive to believe that SAMAX will win a championship but it certainly would not shock me.

I would say that the combination of Cheever/Fabcar could be the next big thing. The car has been very quick and reliability issues are being addressed as well. Looking forward to seeing them as a factor the rest of the season.

I'd bet that the next first time winner will be SAMAX.  After reading Peter Barons post on the GA board, he seems very confident in Milka's replacement and they've shown excellent pace so far this season.

I'd love to see a team like Finlay (I don't count the quace from VIR), Dyson or Cheever for the simple fact that they're going against the grain and not running Riley's.  After being at Homestead, I think a lot of teams have 'stepped up' their game and are much closer on pace to the Ganassi's and Wayne Taylor Racings of the world.

The changes to the Fabcar Cheever has made have brought it to life, the AJR car ran strong fighting for the lead and the Doran with Gidley behind the wheel was on pace battling Papis and Bergmeister at the end before they suddenly dropped behind at the end.
