Why doesn't anyone post messages in the IRL forum?

Does this mean that there are no fans of the IRL series?

If and when the IRL ever makes a move that looks like they intend to expand or somehow do something for the series other than dropping races and promoting Dancing with the Stars you may see more posts but the way TG is going don't hold your breath.

It's a shame that the general public's dislike of the IRL has dimished the Indy 500. Of course it is understandable that racing fans would not follow the series when it is based on gimmicks like hyping Danica "0 for a Liftetime" Patrick as the world's greatest racer, stuffing the curvy Milka "Funbags" Duno into a firesuit with the hope it will draw viewers to the Indy 500, and entering drivers into silly TV contests like Dancing with the Stars. It seems that IRL management just doesn't care about the racing.

Just wish a third party could get involved and put these series together.

NASCAR should buy out the partners of OWRS LLC, the group that owns ChampCar. They could then run it as the Formula Daytona Championship Car series. NASCAR should then tell Tony George that he has the choice of either running Formula Daytona at the Indy 500 or don't run Formula Daytona and he will lose the Brickyard 400. Without the highly profitable Brickyard race TG would not be able to fund the money losing IRL. The IRL will then die, TG will go back to being a lucky guy who happened to inherit a very famous race track, and American open wheel racing once again be whole.

Don't say that too loud. Someone may be listening. Does have a ring to it, though.
Maybe the France Klan should start their own road racing series to run as another suppor series. Then again, i guess the DP's can run Thursday night shows using the infield courses.

I hope they are listening. NASCAR acquiring ChampCar and rebranding it as the Formula Daytona Champ Car World Series is a huge win for everyone. First, it will unify American Open Wheel Racing and drive Tony George out of the business of running an open wheel series. Second, American Ope Wheel Racing will benefit from the strong relationships NASCAR has with leding corporations who both support and promote NASCAR. This will put AOWR back on the front page of the sports section. Third, it will benefit those who are fans of sports car racing as now NASCAR can create powerful road racing events by packaging the GrandAm series with ChampCar. Fourth, the move by NASCAR to acquire ChampCar and unify American Open Wheel Racing will make NASCAR stock car racing stronger as they use the global reach of ChampCar to extend stock car racing into new markets.

FANS HAVE JUST LOST INTEREST ! SAME ENGINES, ALMOST SAME CARS...DOES THE IRL THINK PEOPLE JUST GO TO SEE THE DRIVERS ? THIS SPORT IS VERY TECHNICAL IT IS JUST NOT THE DRIVERS THAT MAKE THIS SPORT.....I BELIEVE IF THE MANUFACTURES GOT OUT OF NASCAR AND THE JUST RACED NASAR BODIES AND NASCAR ENGINES NASCAR WOULD BE ALL DONE FOR.....JUST MY OPINION

Yeah! I agree!
That's the best idea I've heard of to unify and get open wheel racing back on track.
On the other hand, if I was Tony George, I would reject such an idea simply because of the manipulative nature of the deal. Threats generally don't work. If push came to shove, would NASCAR really yank the 400 just to save the sport of open wheel racing? Also a bit unlikely in my opinion. However, this is still the best idea set forth so far and could work, if the deals are constructed so that everyone wins.
The Indianapolis 500 is still the oldest, most storied, history filled race in America. The glamour may not be there these days, but it is still THE race to win.
