I need some opinions, ideas, thoughts, etc...

Ok. So, I have to write an argumentative paper about a subject in which I can argue BOTH sides. I have to decide on what my stance is and use valid arguments backed up by scholarly research. I have to also present the opposing side's argument with the same sort of back up. However, my paper has to be clear about which point I am arguing.
I have decided to write my paper on Euthanasia. I know its been done over and over, but it was the only topic (which we had a list to choose from btw) that I felt that I could argue either side. We had the option of abortion, but our professor stated she would not accept "abortion is murder therefore its wrong" as an argument. We had to actually prove why we felt it was wrong and how we based it. And too, I couldn't argue for it. So, anyway, what I need are some thoughts and opinions on the subject of Euthanasia.
How do you feel about it? Is it wrong? Is it a sin? Is it murder? etc. I'm trying to organize my own thoughts and do the research (I have a ton of reading to do) but I thought that maybe one of you might present me with something that I hadn't thought of that I could do further research on to present in my paper. I of course am researching the Terry Shivo case, Dr. Kervorkian, but I'd like to present at least something new... I honestly haven't even decided which side I am going to make my position about.

Everyone has strong and different opinions on this subject and hopefully this thread won't turn into a heated debate.
I know you just want some insight, so here are my to the point thoughts on this.
I believe Terry Schiavo suffered way too long. I want MY family to let me go, do not keep me alive like that, for my sake, and theirs. Let my soul go if my body is broken and can no longer sustain itself, they all know my wishes.
As far as Dr. Jack Kevorkian is concerned, I don't see anything wrong with his assisted suicide. His "patients" were all terminally ill and wanted to die with dignity, and I can't fault the patients, or Dr. K for that.

For the pro-euthanasia arguement you might start with the cost of keeping someone alive who has a terminal illness or is elderly and can no longer care for themselves. Check out the stats on how much we spend as a Country on those things and then check the stats on the rest of the world, you will find some interesting results.
For the anti-euthanasia arguement you could use the same theme - should income matter when it comes to extending a life? How much money is too much when it comes to a precious life? Can we put a price tag on having another day to spend with a loved one, and if we are willing to put a price tag on life, who decides whom gets the money and where does it come from?
Just a few thoughts...

Don't let her lie to you folks...she's been trying to get me to eat some "special" pudding and put a plastic bag over my head for a week now. Every time I try and get one of the kids to taste it for me she wisks it away and puts it back in the fridge.

Yea, RP, T is much smarter than that - if she wanted to knock you off, she would make sure she wouldn't get caught!

I believe she's plotting against some of her deadbeat druggie patients...But then again I could be incorrect.

Thanks Mizzjlb and Shellcat for your thoughts. I appreciate them. I hadn't thought of the financial angle that you brought up mizz...thank you. That gives me something to research! And Shell, you are right, this can lead to heated debate which I wasn't pursuing! Thanks to both of you for taking my thread seriously....

Look at it from the individual freedom angle.
Who should have the right to tell you that you can't take your own life ?

Simple argument, really.
If they're pinks and won't recant, euthanize them.
If they recant, make 'em vote Repuke for 10 years as punishment.
At least that has the benefit of weeding out the slackers.
