Is the IRL going to run in 2008?

I heard a rumor that Tony George is shutting down the IRL and running in ChampCar instead. Does anyone know if this is true?

I`m hearing the same things. So, I`m pretty sure it`s true.
If so, it`s about time he shut that toy series down that he started 13 years ago and rejoined the original, and the greatest series America has ever known, the
Champ Car World Series.

TF330FAN, that's some good advice. It's a shame someone did not tell Tony George the same thing before he had his Visions that led to the creation of the IRL. Fortunately for us race fans he is starting to come down off his trip and will finally be shutting down the IRL.

Yeah, that's quite a reality you have there. What color is the sky in your world? Or, maybe you're just in denial and can't accept the fact that the CCWS is finally dying. The only race paid any attention to, as far as open wheel cars are concerned, is INDY. It was inevitable. So what are you going to do now if CCWS dies, continue to support the sport or ignore it?

No one cares about the IRL 500. Even the drivers who win the race care more about using it to land a more lucarative ride in NASCAR.

An aweful lot of people show up on race day to watch it. The INDY 500 still gets more press than ALL other open wheel events combined, times ten. See it how you like and try not to be so bitter when CCWS folds their tent. It will only help to have one open wheeel series no matter who's running it.
