Well, who you guys got winning this thing.  I still wanna call it the Pepsi 400........oh well.

You could never narrow down a race that all 42 drivers have a chance of winning, however small it may be to one so i'm gonna narrow it down to my elite 8.

1.   Jimmie Johnson ( I kinda think he is due for a win at a restrictor plate track)
2.   Tony Stewart (tough to beat here in July)
3.   Jeff Gordon  (Always a threat)
4.   Kyle Busch (never backs of the gas, checkers or wreckers)
5.   Carl Edwards ( Was impressive last year at this race )
6.   Dale Jr  ( So I don't get called an idiot for not picking the so called genius of restrictor plate tracks)
7.   Kurt Busch  ( usually pretty good on these tracks has some momentum coming in)
8.   Denny Hamlin  ( If he can make it to the end )

I believe Jr will win the Firecracker 400.  A 3rd world team will finish 2nd.

You're missing Kevin Harvick. He's got a knack for doin well at Daytona and Talladega. Never count him out.

Wrecks aside, the Gibbs cars (pick one) and the HMS cars will be the winner. Maybe Harvick.

I'm going to say Kenseth gets the win.

Think i'll take a chance and go with Mears. He and the whole 5 team have a lot to prove. With Mears
out and Martin in for '09, the crew members have to prove their worthy for next year. I look for this
team to do well the rest of the year. Enjoy the race y'all.

If you run better when you need to prove it....  get out.  Go home.
Football.  Baseball.  Basketball.  Contract year.  Go home.

However.... I agree with you.  I think they will run better.  Unfortunately.

The race will be a battle between JGR cars and HMS cars. The JGR cars will be the cars to beat as they were extremely fast at both Daytona and Talladega earlier this year. The HMS cars are slowly but surely starting to get thier act together and they always run well at restrictor plate races. After seeing qualifying it seems as if the DEI and RCR cars have found a lot of speed in their engines so they could be contenders as well.

My pick to finally win a race this year is Tony Stewart who beats Dale Jr and Jeff Gordon to win.
