Johnny Benson was below the yellow line

Nothing against Johnny, but if NASCAR let's that stand... well let's just say it will add to the choreography that has thus far been Speedweeks.

My husband and I both saw that. Benson was clearly below the line. I still can't believe that snot Sprague won that race. I was really pulling for Travis!

Oh no! That was a GREAT finish! But he WAS below the line. I expected to see good stuff too, but this was the first thing I saw. After that, I was distracted. It's the Truck Series... which isn't as interesting as it used to be. At least not until the last few laps.

Whining? Complaining? I dunno whatever you want to call it, the whole point of this thread was being upset that Benson wasnt penalized.  My point was I just suprised I didn't see anything about the great finish, just this thread.

I saw your point, just didn't see the whining. This forum rarely has ANY new stuff on it. Like I said, the Truck series isn't as interesting anymore.

Again though, GREAT finish. But it's the Trucks. It's always same old, same old when it comes to the winners. Not always, but close.

The TV show Las Vegas was more interesting than watching most of that caution filled race. I flipped to the race during commercials, and every time it was a caution.

I can not remember exactly when he went below the yellow line, but I believe he was either had a nose out front or up along the truck and got forced down.

There is no doubt that he went below the line but did he do it to keep from wrecking.  Going 3 wide in that part of the track I could see how that would be an argument for both sides.

Sounded like Mikey said it was legal, but I'm not so sure he's an expert on what's legal

No, more intrigued than anything. I think the yellow line rule is stupid.

The only reason they implemented the damn rule to begin with was because Dale Earnhardt died at the track.

If they were really serious about the yellow line and safety, instead of trying to make it look like they were concerned about safety, they would have implemented the yellow line rule after Gordon's suicidal move involving Ricky Rudd in the '97 500.

Now, if your favorite driver is nailed for a yellow line infraction, I expect you to come here and talk about the exciting racing come Sunday evening. Wink [;)]

Hey T3, JB wasn't forced down there, it was a deliberate move on his part. He said so in the post race interview.

And Kvapil made no move to block either of them. It looked crowded because it was three wide.

He was definitely below the yellow line while making the pass.

Think about NASCAR's reactions to this kind of behavior in the past. I've seen Tony Stewart pushed below the yellow line, yet still penalized. I've seen Junior ride the yellow line at Talladega to make a pass for the lead, and the win and he wasn't penalized.

As per normal, NASCAR is very subjective in their rules enforcement.

Like I said, the yellow line rule is stupid.

That yellow line has caused so much dissension amongst fans...they see it one way and NASCAR has so many ifs ands or buts...they see it another way.  Sometimes I wonder if it's worth trying to figure out NASCAR's rules and intentions!

It's my understanding they go by where the pass is first made to make their call.  At least as of last night...they see JB's move as legal.  We'll have to wait for Monday to see the official results as to whether his position stands or is changed.

But, it was an exciting finish...that's for sure!
