Short Track Nationals - NIGHT 1

Wayne Johnson took the checkers but the class of the field last night was Slammin' Sammy. Yup, chalk one up for us old-schoolers! Sammy started on the pole of a fast heat and won it - looked kinda grim for the Tom Rolfe Trucking #10 sprinter since ASCS is a passing points deal. However, Sammy made a strong run from mid-pack of his qualifying race and won it which put him starting 4th in the feature. After making an early move on Paul McMahan, he locked in on Tony Bruce - they raced each other hard but clean (3 from the Thursday and Friday "A" get a spot in the first 3 rows of the 40 lap big show on Saturday night. Sammy put a wicked chop on Bruce in Turn 1 to take the 2nd spot and eventually caught Wayne Johnson but settle for 2nd.
Notables: Jesse Hockett #13 seemed to have a sick car all night - he was not his usual self and eventually came to a stop with what appeared to be a driveline issue. Paul McMahan #3D was blistering fast in his heats and qualifying race - he started 3rd in the "A" but did not have anything for the Top 3. Tommy Bryant in the #21T was brutally aggressive in his heats and qualifiers but did make a charge in the "A". Shane Stewart spun the #57 Silva Sprinter in his qualifier and collected several cars in the process - he made progress with a damaged mount.
I have 3 Frito Chili Pies! Awesome track food on a November night!

What happened to my Ca. guys JA and Kyle Larson? I have not seen thier names on any of the results. Do they split the field like Knoxville or Gold Cup?
