Wooo Hoo Moto GP Starts Tomorrow
3/6/2008 11:19 AM

The first ever night race for the big bikes takes place in Qatar this weekend. They've tested under the lights and the reviews were good.

Time to see if anyone has anything for Casey. I like him, but I hope Rossi and Nicky have something. Although Nicky doesn't sound too happy about the new Honda.

That`s because we have to get the news from some place else! Two Drunks [:drunk]

It`s been about 3 years that R1 was going to cover motorbikes!!!Leaving [:leaving]

Anyhow...I`m curious about the race and the night conditions. I hope this season won`t be a snoozefest like last year. AMA had better races in 2007!!!

Speaking of which........racing in Daytona started today!!!Rocker [:rocker]

Doc, I know, and thanks. I've posted here a few times but they seem to go unanswered.
Now that I know we have a few 2-wheel fans, maybe we can have some decent discussions on those circuits.

I try to follow WSB, and catch the occasional American SB races.

Racing in Daytona has been going on all week. They just haven't been the big series races.

And yeah, I'd love to have coverage of all the motobike racing..........

I would love to see more coverage of the racing series, I saw where ABC is going to cover 3 Moto GP races this year.

Hey, be honest. Who would have thunk the front row would have two Tech-3s and Lorenzo on pole?

Lorenzo has a lot of talent, but I never would have picked him for pole in his first race.

I'm watching the 125s and they look really fine under the lights.

You know, I watched the racing last evening on TV. It was taped of course... but the action was really tight and exciting! Thanks for bringing the series to my attention.

Did you catch the 250's and 125's? Luthi, is a local kid and I was bummed to see that he jumped the start, but it was a clear penalty.

The GP bikes are making about 230hp from 800cc; that's pretty crazy.
It also helps having such an international field.

3 weeks and they are in Jerez for the Spanish GP.

Keep me posted.

And I'm not sure which I watched, most likely the 250s though. A rider was leading early for most of the race and then fell back to 3rd or 4th. Hmmm... I believe his name started with a P but I could be wrong! All I know is that the action was tight for a majority of the race... not to mention there was some good tire rubbing going on.

I just got hold of a Eurosport copy of the race, much better than the chopped up coverage on SpeedTV.
Looks like there is a new kid in town, and his name is Lorenzo. A good run by Pedrosa too.
Those Musco lights looked amazing, road racing under lighting is going to be big!

Doc, you saw the GP race. Padrosa and Lorenzo are both Spaniards, and I don't rteally like either one. Two years ago in the next to last race, Padrosa took out his Honda team mate, Nicky Hayden and almost cost him the title. Had Rossi not hit the deck in the final race it would have been the difference. Padrosa is very good, just an ass in my opinion. Best clip of last year was of John Hopkins making rabbit ears behind a scoweling Padrosa in a media tent. The last two Honda factory bikes have been disigned around Padrosa who is a good 20kg lighter than Nicky.

Lorenzo will be another great talent, but I'm truly surprised that anyone makes a helmet big enough.

Just don't count out the other two surprises of the night DeAngelas and Towsland. Those were second level teams kicking butt. The real probelm for the Tech-3 Yamaha boys was that they were riding last years motor, and could not turn up the wick for fear of running out of gas. Lorenzo and Rossi had the new pneumatic-valve engines and did'n really have to worry about fuel.
