Racing from years past!
8/23/2006 10:12 AM

As i read all the post and comments on here i wonder if anyone thinks about racing in the past? No one backed off and you won the race however you could win. There was no Nascar rules about every little thing that happened on the track. I have seen races from a long time ago and it was hard racing. If you needed to get past a driver and the only way you could do it was to give him a little bump,or draft him until he got loose, you did it.  Sometimes you are just trying to get around a slower car. I believe Jr. had a faster car. The only reason Carl even got the lead was because of Jr. almost running over that black car (don't know who it was). But now the cars go faster and if you bump someone, they are likely to wreck at the speeds they go now. As i watched the replay of the Busch race Saturday,it looked as if Jr. was blocked in with no place to go and Carl got off the gas and Jr.had no choice but to do whatever he had to do to get out of the situation. If you're gonna get in the lead, you better go! Back in the day,if two drivers had an incident on the track, then there was usually a fight afterwards, either on the track or in the pit. I do think if Jr. had been in front of Carl then Carl would have spun him out. I do not think Jr. would  have ever come back on the track to hit another drivers car. I have seen other drivers spin him out on the lead lap and i don't remember any retaliation by Jr.after the race.Do any of you?  That time Jr. said sh-t on TV,what his fine? If i  remember right it was more than Carl is getting! Jr. also lost points! It depends on who you drive for these days. That has been proven at the first of the season by JJ's crew chief getting suspended, but JJ still got to race. You can say whatever you want to,but Nascar is changing and i think money is talking.

Is that the case really or is the Sponsor money and the media attention having the bigger say?  Would Richard Petty gotten 200 wins in todays NASCAR?  Putting the competition aside, the old school drivers were a rough lot and that is what made racing such a sport.  Running moonshine wasn't a legal trade so why would racing  be any different?I'm not saying it should be a complete free for all but throwing a bunch every now and again is good for the sport!

Are you really this clueless? Ever hear of  the word PRECEDENCE? If not let me know and I'll show you how you can look it up and improve your vocabulary.  But for now let's move on to  the quoted  sentence.

That season NA$CAR decided to crack down on drivers using "bad" language. They passed the word down to the teams and  drivers. They were pretty much ignored. It continued so NA$CAR came up with some lesser penalties. It STILL continued. So BEFORE they "nailed"  LilBoyJr.  they got to "lesser" people.  A Busch driver and a crew chief I think  or maybe another  driver and fined THEM  25 points and 25 grand. When Jr. did it he recieved the SAME penalty as the two before him who did the same thing. Are you beginning to gain a glimmer of insight yet? Just to be sure let's run through it again. Jr. got EXACTLY THE SAME penalty for EXACTLY THE SAME "infraction" as two people before him. Or are you saying that being a devine being if not the son a god that Jr shouldn't have been punished in the same fashion as lesser beings, mere mortals as it were.

What Carl did was a DIFFERENT infraction hence a different "penalty". Was it harsh enough? Many here, from reading the threads, seem to feel that, no it wasn't, but it in no way is comparable to the fact that Jr.'s punishment for the s-bomb was EXACTLY THE SAME as the two before him.

Do you understand? Can I clarify any further? Are there any other "fuzzy bits" that you have that I can clear up for you? I realize that logical thought and critical thinking  are no longer taught in school so I am at your disposal to help you out in these two important areas of mental development as much as I can.
