Its a high banked 1/2 mile, with good old North Dakota black dirt. Craig Dollansky set the track record back in 2002, with a lap of 14.786.

Man, that was fun watching the Dollansky/Meyers fight for 1st and the Haudenschild/Schatz battle for 3rd. Those 4 were flying thru the field. It was about all I could do to keep my eyes on those four. The speed on those high-banked half-miles is intense, like watching a video game.

WoO website story said "breathtaking speeds thru heavy traffic" in describing the lead group. The thing went non-stop. Kudos to RRV speedway for working the track for the LM and sprint features.

It was a GOOD race that was only made possible by being green for the duration. Had there been a caution (or 5) it would have been a follow-the-leader...as it has been the last several years at this track. Not even CLOSE to being among the MANY great battles witnessed between Sammy, Steve , the Wolf and others 'back in the day' at this track. There is a reason this used to be a 2 and 3 day event.

There is a reason Fargo used to be a 2 and 3 day event and they often herded people into the pits to watch due to overflow. The reason the big place is only half full (maybe) and now a one day event, is Minot now has a WoO show, Bismarck/Mandan now has a WoO show, and Grand Forks (only 70 miles north) now has two WoO shows. All on action-packed 3/8th mile tracks. The heats generally stink on the big track in Fargo and most people from other parts of the state don't come here like they previously had too. In N.Dakota, Fargo is sadly the 4th choice of fans today. BUT, that feature was something else. Wow!
