To many BUSCHWACKERS anymore!
8/24/2006 1:35 PM

Angry [:angry]

So the cup guys think "hey I can't win in my series so I'll drop down and when there. I'm all for them racing in the busch series. It helps the busch guys learn and helps out some cup rookies and the busch series it's self. But nascar needs to limit how many races the cup guys can race per year. If you are a rookie in cup let them race 25 races in busch and if you are a vet in cup let them run 15 races in busch. It's like a high school kid going to the 4th grade basketball court to make himself feel good with a win! It's got out of hand now! Let the smaller busch teams get some exposure and maybe they will get more and better sponsers!

I see your point and it is true but who will make that decision?  Is it money or is it about reasonable competition?  I'd like to think it was about competition and the seriers as a whole but I guess it isn't anymoreStunned [:|]  So then NASCAR won't want to rock the boat.  A pretty nasty cycle when you here the cup teams talk about Sunday's race and what they learned on Saturday.

This topic has been beaten to death. The teams and drivers that choose to field a car (building, funding, staffing, and entry fees, etc) have as much right to run both series as anyone. They have rules and templates and follow the same guidelines as the "regulars" you speak of. You can't stop them, they ARE Busch regulars if they run the entire series, and as far as the others who dabble in a handful of races a year, well, they are doing just what you suggested yourself, and that is run 15 or less a year.

So what will make you people happy?

This, coming from a fan of the driver who is in the lead in Busch standings. Of course Harvick can only win Busch Championships.

This coming as expected from a guy using the usual cop out of a slam. Besides, its easy to hide behind the 17 and its championship even though he couldn't get it done in Busch. The 17 is a true whacker of the series, entering only at Roush dominated tracks. At least when Harvick runs, its the entire series and BOTH series. I wouldn't count Harvick out of a Cup championship just yet. There is no doubt in my mind that had Harvick been driving since 2001 in a Roush car, that he too would have a Championship under his belt. Now that he has real cars in the Cup series, you see what he's actually capable of.

Wanted to add this: People want to assume that it is so easy to win Busch Championships and Busch races, but then moan and groan that the field is dominated by Cup drivers which raises the competition, so in fact, goes to show how good of a job Harvick is doing in beating the Cup filled series, including the 17.

Would there be enough cars to qualify in the Busch Series races without the Buachwackers?

I don't now if I'd go that far.  This is the first year Harvick has really raced intelligentlyy (for the whole season).  Thire stuff has been better and that as helped him with everything from confidence to performance.  I think the biggest change at RCR that has helped Harvick is the addition of Jeff Burton.  I think that more than anything has given Harvick someone as a teammate he respects and actually looks up to for advice.  Burton's influence can not be understimated.

But fast cars definately help.

He has always raced intelligently, hasn't always used his head off the track (post-race), but you can never fault him for his efforts on the track. Not having a good car and equipment is the only reason he hasn't contended in Cup. Its obvious that RCR is far above the rest of the Busch Series, this is a team that won the title in 2001, won the owners championship with 2 drivers in one car, and had Bowyer finish runner up last season, and is well on its way to a second Harvick title. Now they have Burton and a comparable Cup program, the results are there.

Looks like Harvick is doing well to me in the Cup Series. Has as good a chance as anybody to win the Championship.

What I don't understand is at the non-companion races there's barely enough to qualify and that's with the 6 or 7 cup guys running full time, if they weren't at those tracks you wouldn't even have 43.  Why aren't there more Busch teams trying to enter at the non-companion tracks where there don't have to get bumped by 15 cup guys and only have to beat Busch regulars to qualify in... I know the purse doesn't pay much but they could get in and get owner points.

I have said this before but maybe not in here, If you are in the top 20 in points in the cup series, you can't drive in the Busch series or the truck series!!!
