Walker out of #5
8/12/2006 3:21 PM
Heard Friday afternoon that Tyler quit the #5 car... and after not showing in the non-qualifiers races... i think it's confirmed! What's this guys problem???? If he'd have some patience and not try to win the heat in the first turn like he did Thursday! He's got a good ride with Guy but doesn't realize what he has! Where's he gonna go now? Back to Busch? doubtful. He'll have no better offer in a sprint car than the Forbrook car.
I hate it for Guy... he's a great guy and has a good car... Sammy proved that but "the guy" can't keep a driver! But it's not all his fault. Hopefully Dobmeier will get the ride... even tho he's leading points in Huset's and Grand Forks?

Guy lose the person that could help him win races wit sammy. Sammy did not want to race as much as what guy does. I for one would line to see mark dobmeier get the ride but guy may not be the right fit. Guy is to demanding. Mark would need someone who would be more patience with him then what i think guy is able to be. Wait and see. His choice for a new driver could surprise. I would like guy to pick jason side. Jason has earned the right to good equipment like what guy has. Guy may not want to run a set schedule like jason wants to.

Jason Sides isn't getting out of his car now w/NST points on the line. Maybe next year. Dobmeier may go and keep his own car for Sunday's at Husets. Points aren't driving him in GF.
Not sure he and Guy would be a good fit.

I would like to see Johnny Herrera drive for them again, or one thats very doubtful Mark Kinser.
Maybe Wayne Johnson could be considered after a good run at the Nats and now on the market.
Time will tell

Not sure he actually quit. The sponsers wanted him out and didn't want to run the rest of the week after his first lap crash, according to Guy's wife. They were more than a little upset. She did say, however that they were going to pull out a brand new car and run Saturday with a different driver, but that obviously didn't happen either.

i saw him throw his little fit and helmet. that guy doesn't deserve a decent ride. it was HIS fault he tore the car up to begin with. and there is no sponsor out there that wants to hand over money for a hot head like that. i just hope forbrook finds someone who APPRECIATES the opportunity. i'm sure gharst wouldn't throw his helmet. or stenhouse, johnson, etc.

If the decision was mine to make, Wayne Johnson would be the first choice to, at the very least, fill in for the rest of the season in Guy Forbrook's car. Guy and Wayne both are professionals, veterans and perfectionists. It is my understanding that the 14aj ride Wayne was in for Nationals was something that was put together quickly over the last few weeks. He swept the race in Antigo and had an awesome Nationals. The only cars to pass him in the A main were Lasoski and Steve Kinser. That's phenomenal. And, I also understand he was told previous to the Nationals that no matter how well he did at Nationals he would only be in the car for one more race at the most after Nationals. Knowing that, he still had a stellar performance for the car owner/s and handled him self very professionally on and off the track. As a businessman and a race fan, I would think that any professional team that is looking for an Class A driver would have Wayne Johnson at the top of the list. His success at the 2006 Chillibowl certainly should have gotten the attention of corporate sponsors and professional teams. If the Chillibowl didn't get that attention, the Nationals this year should have. They didn't interview Mr. Johnson during the driver introductions so, since he always tells his child in Oklahoma before the races that he loves him/her, he stood up there on the stage in front of everyone and used sign language to sign the message that he loved him/her. Maybe only he and his child and a few other folks saw it. I for one thought it showed that not only is Wayne a professional driver, he is one heck of a good person. He would make any professional/serious car owner proud.

Why wouldn't the sponsors not want to race? It's the Knoxville Nationals! The most sponsor exposure and how can they expect to race Saturday when they didn't even run the Friday non-qualifiers along with a bunch of people like The Mouse, Sather, and Zemken.
Walker doesn't deserve it... he ran really good when he got into the car... set quicktime at Huset's! Second time at Huset's led alot of the race and almost flipped because of his impatience before his motor blew.
Another person that came to mind... Wayne Johnson is a gasman but Jason Johnson! He can race... almost won $160 Saturday if he wouldn't have screwed up in turn four on the last lap and let Saldana get past!

I talked to Tyler at the King's Royal. He seems like a nice guy. I feel he has good driving ablity but, maybe to eager sometimes. Needs to learn some patients.
I like Tyler he has also been pleasent to talk to.

Wayne Johnson and Jason Johnson both very much deserve a better ride than what Guy can provide. I've long thought that Jason may again team up with Steve Kinser, as he put some time in with Steve getting his feet wet. Droud Jr's arrogance will never allow him to get along with anyone for an entire season and Gharst is 1-2 seasons away from having much needed experience and track time on other tracks across the U.S.
Billy Alley is a good example of a guy that cut his teeth in 360's across the midwest and is now taking the time at Knoxville needed to become that next level competitor. Rumors were flying this weekend about him in the 55 car next year, but not sure if this is a lateral move for him from the 17G. Billy's in Gharst's shoe's, needing more national track exposure and experience..
Watch Tony Bruce Jr. in the future and with additional funding and support, will become a quiet contender at future 410 races...

I know Tyler Walker has a temper sometimes but everyone does once in awhile. For him to throw his equipment around is not right at all but should he lose his ride over it? Tyler can drive and everyone knows it. I think Guy and the rest of the sponsors should sit Tyler down and have a serious talk with him. Look at professional athletes they get in trouble all the time do they lose there job? No. Do they get fined? Yes. And until Mr. Forbrook announces Tyler is out I'm not believing any rumors.
