2007 World of Outlaws schedule
8/12/2006 1:12 PM

2007 World of Outlaws schedule has been released and 72 nights of racing listed what is interesting is what races are include and what are not. The World of Outlaws do not have any races listed for Knoxville or Las Vegas for next year but they have a lot more races in the south which is great for me as I live here for example they will be visiting Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL on Feb 9, 11 which has been the tradional start of the season the last few years but they will also returning to Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX on Feb 17 which is good to see them back in Texas. The other south dates they have included includes Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS on March 24, Volunteer Speedway in Bull’s Gap, TN March 30, Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA March 31, Paducah Intl. Knoxville will be added, no doubt about that.  Racing in Princeton, MN in October could be interesting.  I was there the year they raced in April and have never been so cold in my life.

Only 1 night in Fargo is surprising.  Lots of trouble managing that track over the last couple years; too bad for those of us in the area.

Competition between series must be good though.  NST already booked in Grand Forks for July 7-8,  or corresponding dates to this year.  Both sides hustling to fill their schedules.

Feb. 17 in Houston?

Man, that will be cold, even down here.  But I guess I'll be one of the idiots out there with my heavy jacket and thermals.

One night in Fargo is a bummer.  I'd been flying up there for the three night shows in previous years.  Came up this year for the 2 night show.  I will probably pass on a one night show.

No... Knoxville will not be added.  And that's a fact!  Des Moines Register reports that Knoxville will have neither WoO or NST shows in 2007 in an effort to join the two series'.

No Las Vegas on the schedule is a little differet... look for the NST to pick up alot of these dates.  Only one day in Fargo... they tried that last year after the Nationals and had a terrible crowd!  Gonna be the same in 2007.  Princeton in October???  Only one date at Huset's.... NST will more than likely take the April show.

Is 72 races average?  They use to race 100 a year and have slowly decreased but compared to 2006 how is it?

Is this the earliest the schedule has ever been released. It looks like Tony S. going to run the Outlaws at Eldora, but have his car run the NST.

As far as them not going to Las Vegas I dont think the drivers will miss the TRACK, because from what I have seen they never have had a good racing surface anyways.

Eldora lost its 1st weekend in Aug. Date. They moved it to sept. It might be chilly after sunset, but nothing like the early April race....It was only 30* this past april. Probly good to move  the Aug. date seems how its just 2-3  weeks after the Royal. Small Crowd last week.

Tony's car ran mostly with NST this year because he had committed to Steve when NSL was in the works. He ran as many WOO shows as possible because of TV. I think it could be the other way around this year because of Bass Pro Shops.

Just my thoughts.

Good to see WoO come back to Georgia after not making the trip since the late 90's.  End of March is not to bad as the weather is starting to turn nice. Looks like someone will reset the track record and retire Gaerte's lap record he set last time they came to town.  I'll be there for sure!

Local late models will hate this as they look like they are towing boat anchors when they hot lap following the Outlaws.  LOL!

who ever is driving tony's car next year should be on the woo tour. it doesn't make sense to have your track run outlaws and go to outlaw shows and have your car run somewhere else. and solwold. i would not be a bit surprised if he was running outlaws in 07. if they aren't back together anyway.

Maybe Tony doesn't like the Bounceless Brigade from a car owner's perspective and was contractually bound to them as a track owner.  Do thoughts like this ever cross your mind or you're just so blindsidely pro-WoO that nothing else makes sense?

I'd watch for the NST to have a better schedule than the one posted here.  BET ME.  Of course, merger beats anything either could release.

Major points to the WoO for releasing a schedule at this point of the year, BTW.  In the past you couln't get a racing schedule from the WoO until after the Chili Bowl.  Only small-time people like NASCAR would dare put out a schedule at the 3/4 point of a racing season.  lol  NOW people can make travel arrangements and plan their lives ahead of time.  Kudos to the WoO for doing something that common sense should have told them to do years ago.

MAJOR loss of points to the WoO for once again skipping the DFW market, among others.  I can drive 4 hrs to Houston for a race... but thats the closest I saw.  Heck, this is only the site of the 1st WoO race, the headquarters of it, TMS only built a kajillion dollar track FOR THE WOO... why would they schedule a race here???????

Hopefully the NST sees the glaring hole in my area's racing calendar and makes it happen.  The car count won't be high (not more than a handful of 410s in this region, all are full-time 360 teams that race a couple of 410 races... this is 360 land) but we are 410 deprived and ready to see them GET IT ON.

OMG!  We agree on something!!!  Why do they skip that track so often... looks like an awesome facility!

I would say this schedule is tentative.  There are very few dirt tracks that have given any thought to next year yet.  Most want to get through this year first.

Why would Bruton Smith schedule the WoO or NST when he can schedule SUPR Late Models and Modifieds for practically a 1/10 of the purse, sell the tickets for almost the same price, and have almost the same people come to the track? Why would Lanny schedule either 410 series when he is best friends with Emmet Hahn?

Yea! 5 races in Missouri!

2 @ I-55

2 @ Lake Ozark

1 @ US 36

Although they should have 2 at US 36 and 1 at Lake Ozark. I have yet to see a decent 410 race at LOS.

Why schedule a 410 race here?  Uh... because the track at TMS was built FOR THE WOO.  No other reason was given.  Multimillion dollar facility built for the sole reason of hosting 2 WoO race weekends a year.  Bruton's bunch at TMS is in the business of making money... they have stockholders to answer to.  WoO races would pack the crowd in like no other event.  Personally, I've thought that the 4/10 oval at TMS is the most underutilized piece of real estate in the DFW marketplace... but apparently thats just me.  Hosting a USAC sprint/midget doubleheader, the ASCS Supernationals, or a NST/WoO race weekend is small potatoes compared to a Nextel cup weekend, so we see where the true allegiance at that track lies.  $$$ speaks.

As for Lanny Edwards... this dude stuck his neck and pocketbook out for more series than is humanly possible.  I've seen WoO, AllStars, NCRA, ASCS, Sprint Bandits, etc. try to be the big show at the track... and a WoO show will always be king.  I've been to many ASCS shows at the Bowl and have loved every single one, but they don't fill the stands like the WoO does.  When was the last time that Steve Kinser and company visited the track by the Catfish Corner?  Its been way too long IMO.  Bring the big boys back and put on a show at the 1st track the WoO ever visited!!!!!!!!!

If a WoO schedule without racing at the traditional speedways and markets of this area (81 Speedway in Wichita, OKC Fairgrounds, Houston <wow, they got 1 race>, Tulsa, Dallas, etc.) makes sense to you... you missed out on some incredible racing for way too long.  The WoO put the racing bug in 9/10 of the people following racing in this area and deserve a chance to shine once again for the folks here... this is a big time racing community that is missing out on something special.

I think it is just the opposite. I think the tracks that signed Letters of Intent with Dirt have watched what went on this year and made a decision early as TV and major sponsor work are done in October and November and they want to align themselves and move on to other things. They all have to work on other events and their own sponsor deals and don't want to spend the winter in limbo.

I think you will see some NST tracks announce soon as well.

Just my opinion.

It was a great Nationals!
