Big Block Mods - E3 & EPSG Question
8/12/2009 6:07 AM
Hey Guys,
I was wondering if you get the big block mods out where you live? Or is everything 358's?
I was asking because I was looking at the Eldora speed records and noticed the late modals were quite a bit faster than the mods.
In the North East the DIRT big block limit is 467CID, but now they are restricted to a single 4-barrel carb, not like the good 'ol days of methanol injection.

Big Block Mods - E3 & EPSG Question

Very rarely. In the past Eldora would have the big blocks once a year but I haven't seen them advertised in a while. This was always a hot bed for sprints with the mods as the secondary cars. From what I've read lately the Late Models are drawing a bigger crowd. We don't have the big names in the mod ranks like the N.E. does. I would love to see the Super Modifieds run at a track like Winchester, which is paved. I've watched the Mods run there and they are unbelievably fast.

Big Block Mods - E3 & EPSG Question

Thanks, unfortunately the big block mods seem to be a dieing breed aroufd here as well.
***, it was cool to see them at Devil's Bowl(VT), Fonda(NY), Lebanon Valley(NY), Malta(NY) and twice a year at the one mile Syracuse fair track.
Nothing like a 450+CID methonal injected motor to make you feel your heart in your chest!
I can see why late models have become more popular. It is tied with the rise of NASCAR. As fast as late models are I still prefer mods and sprints. As a kid I loved sprints. I would beg my parents to go to Lebanon Vally or even rolling Wheels when they were there. Syracuse was too big for them. They were too fast for the mile. Bently Warren actually took his Super Mod from Oswego and won the pole and the race one year. The UASAC sprints were better suited to the big track.
Thanks for replying E3
I do think about what you and your wife are going through. I'm just not very good at expressing myself.
Take care.
