Media Training

My guess is that neither of the touring winged sprint car series do any formal media training with the drivers.  Knoxville, for the second straight year, pointed out the need (although last year's mis-step was not done by one of the tourning drivers).  A quick, one-hour session to give the drivers some instruction and perspective would be time well spent.  Even something at Knoxville would be good since that race annually brings in the largest viewership.

Good point.  Nascar sends all their guys to training classes on how to present yourself and deal with the media.  Dirt drivers could benefit from similar training.  Also many drivers have the talent but don't know how or have the confidence to go out and drum up sponsorship.  A seminar on that subject would be benificial to many I would think.

Knoxville used to have seminars through the week on different subjects.  I attended one on safety in the car a couple of years ago and it was very informative.  Talked about restraints, helmets, installation, what happens in a crash and how to best protect yourself.  I didn't see anything like that scheduled this year.  Knoxville is the perfect place for it because of so many drivers and crew in attendance.  I suppose someone has to pay for it and that's the probably the problem.  But as much money as Knoxville takes in at the Nationals they could certainly provide some seminars to help advance the sport.
