No F1 at Indy?
7/16/2007 1:53 PM
Does the fact that there will be no F1 at Indy next year mean no F1 at all in the U.S? I am pretty new to F1 racing (I think it is fabulous!), and I am really disappointed at this news.
Anyone out there know the answer?

ONLY Bernie knows.
Two reasons it couldn't and won't be anywhere else is the cost to make it conform to FIA standards and the 30 million dollar fee to Bernie years in advance of any confirmation.

Good thing they built a road coarse at Indy just for them. ![Jack [:jack]](/emoticons/jack.gif)
It'll be great for shifter carts.

This is a real shame for the sport. While I am no fan of Our Good Friend Tony George, I do give him props for bringing F1 back to the US. Ironically, I also give him props for not putting up with Bernie E.'s BS, and yet leaving the door open to a return. F1 might do a deal with Las Vegas, but we'll see. Bernie E. needs to realize the manufacturers in his series (Mercedes, BMW, Honda, and Toyota) all want an F1 race in their biggest market. If Bernie keeps blowing this off, sooner or later, they will mount a revolt and put it to him.

Formula 1 at Indy was outrageous. Had great seats on turn 1.Went for the first 3 years. Year 1 they had over 250,000 people there!!! It was wonderful to have F1 back in the USA,except for that "tire wars" year when only 5 or 6 cars raced. Now we're going to lose it again. I don't know who to blame,Tony or Bernie. All I know is that we are losing a great motor racing event because of the almighty dollar. What a shame.
