BERLIN, Md.- Authorities say a car carrying two active-duty Navy personnel led police in Berlin on a Wednesday night high-speed chase that only came to an end when the car collided with an SUV occupied by six people.
Berlin police arrested the driver of the BMW, identified as 26-year-old Winston Doyle Douglas, of Portsmouth, Va. and formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., for DUI, fleeing and eluding and related motor vehicle charges. According to police, investigators also seized a loaded .45 caliber handgun from inside the BMW's passenger compartment.

The man accused of fleeing after striking three teenagers with a car last October, fatally injuring one of them, was charged three months later in Maryland with driving under the influence, speeding 108 mph in a 50 mph zone, aggressive driving, attempting to elude police, and causing injury to a person.
Douglas faces up to 40 years in prison on the Portsmouth charges, Mobley said.
