If you REALLY want to see a cool regional series, local series, whatever... put ASCS 360 motors in a nonwing car and watch the teams save $$$. I've always wondered why Emmett Hahn hasn't done it yet in AZ or CA... he obviously runs the TNT series and has run a few ASCS races topless to try it out. It sounded like a big hit when they were at Creek County in OK a few years back.
If I promoted a 1/4 to 3/8 mile track... I'd definitely have nonwing 360 cars. I'll bet even around here you'd end up with 20 cars within a year EASY. The IMCA or ASCS 360 program is fine with me, probably run them as special events. I'd guess the ASCS is a bit pricey to run weekly without a nice purse... even the regional ASCS doesn't pay much though.
OK... whole reason I was posting... I'm curious about TKFAN's comment about Hockett having a Ford or Mopar... did you "hear" something or visually you thought it was? I don't know how anyone from the stands could tell a difference in a Mopar vs. a Chevy, even if stickers are all over thats no guaranty. Ford is pretty different looking, gotta be careful about 1 particular head that WESMAR and a few others built... equispacing between cylinders similar to a Ford but with a little different look around where the headers bolt on vs. a Ford. The Keith Kunz team still runs one on occasion, TyLer Wklers 35 team ran one when he was doing well on the GUmout tour (a WESMAR product).
So anyway... what led you to believe Hockett ran something different? I'm not even arguing, it was just an intriguing observation and I love it when racers run something different. I thought Hockett was running WESMAR motors... who knows what he has in his 410 arsenal at the moment.
