Shopping at Our New-Fangled Supermarket...
8/23/2006 7:11 AM
The new supermarket near our house has an automatic water mister to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of distant thunder and the smell of fresh rain.
When you approach the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and witness the scent of fresh hay.
When you approach the egg case, you hear hens cluck and cackle and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.
The veggie department features the smell of fresh buttered corn.
I don't buy toilet paper there any more.

LOL. Actually, the misting of the produce and thunder are part of the schtick at the markets back home along with......Gene Kelly singing......I'm singing in the rain. Yep. True.
We have awesome grocery stores back home. Here in BFE.....well.....there are the basics in less than stellar surroundings. Of all the things that I left, the grocery stores are the ONLY thing I miss believe it or not.

You were from the "big city" right? St Louis? (We stopped there on the way back from the Kansas race, honey and punkin went with me) ate supper and showed Punkin the Golden Gate bridge. We got there too late to go up, the security line was 1 1/2 hours long and it was onlt 1 3/4 til it closed, but I digress). Whenever I go to smaller places the grocery stores just seem dismal. Here in Atlanta you can can literally get anything. Although the lion meat has to be ordered so there's a day or two wait for it.........
