Detroit area including the coronation of Ashley, the debut of the Giddings & Lewis (Fadal) (FORD) Funny Car motor with the entire world led by the media going GA GA.
I've started to watch MONSTER JAM on Speed rather than NHRA on ESPN.

Rumor has it that the new race will go to Charlotte in anticipation of a track to be built at Lowes Motor Speedway. If the track is not completed in time, another track - possibly Gainsville - will be used for 2008 only.

Isn't the owner of Lowes Speedway the guy who has long been rumored as wanting to buy NHRA and take it public---Bruton Smith or Humpy Wheeler? Think so.

Bruton Smith's Co. owns LVMS and Lowes(aka Charlotte) among others. Humpy Wheeler is listed as Pres. and Gen. Mgr. of Lowes he runs the place.
Smith was rumored to be looking at NHRA a few years ago.

Yes, Bruton Smith is the owner of Lowe's Motor Speedway. He also owns other tracks, including the dragstrips at Las Vegas, Bristol, Atlanta, and Sonoma (Humpy Wheeler is the manager of LMS). And it's also true that Bruton Smith was long rumored to be interested in purchasing the NHRA assets.

Too bad that P T Barnum is not around to head up the extravaganza, but what about Don King or even the most modern day promotor Michael Vick.
