Otherwise known as the West Virginia State Fair......Talk about all of the inbreds coming out of the mountains for a reunion! The kids had fun though.

State Fairs scare me. Cows and horses and manure all over the place.....
Did you have funnel cake? Funnel cake is the only thing that will get me to a Fair...

Oh, man! I wish I could have gone with you! I used to live just 2 or 3 miles from there, in beautiful, downtown Ronceverte, WV. (Why do I feel like I'm at an AA meeting when I say that? "My name is blonde_stranger, and I'm a recovering West Virginian.")
Did y'all get to check out any of the harness races? I always loved those, as well as the draft horse competition. And, "pronto pups" - do they still have those? The WV State Fair is the only place that I've ever seen a "pronto pup." And, how about the dude that rides his motorcycle on the walls? And the "Fat Albert" game with the little white rats?
Redneck amusement parks rock! ![Thumbs Up [:thumbup]](/emoticons/thumbup.gif)

WTF would anyone live in Ron-ceverte?
No we didn't make it to any of the horsy stuff. Other than walk thur the draft horse barn...
Of course Pronto pups are still around, I have a record 30 years straight going to the WV fair until I got married. Then I missed tow years in a row because of the wife, However.com I'm back on a 4 year streak. Didn't see the barrel of death cycle this year or now that you mention it for several years. Yeah the fat albert game was there as always...

I love State Fairs! I used to go to the Illinois State Fair every year, and I've been to the Iowa State Fair and Missouri.
I've been to the North Carolina State fair each year in the two years I've been here and plan on going again this year. Of them all, I guess I still like Illinois the best, but they have all been good.
Oh.....and while the others have always been in August when it is hot as hell and HUMID, North Carolina does it right! They have theirs in October when it's beautiful outside.

You might want to clarify that one of those years, I had just had knee surgery and the other year, I had just had our first baby by a c-section!!!!

we actually did have a very good time. The kids had a blast, and it was kinda hard keeping up with them, but we did have a great family day together.

State fairs are lots of fun. It's the rinky-dink local ones that give "fair" a bad name.
