When Copy-Paste Fails
4/7/2009 10:27 AM
As a victim of hostile R1 Copy-Paste Inhibitor, I've learned a couple of tricks.
As far as I can tell with text the problem is a result of the source being in an unacceptable font, sytle or mark-up, and this editor gets confused.

What to do.
If after posting you notice that your paste was eaten (had a school friend who ate paste) open a text editor like notepad or I prefer NotePad++ (it's free) and paste your text into it.
Do not use a word processing application like Word, or even Outlook, because this may keep the formatting and solve nothing.
This will convert the text to unformatted text.
Copy it again from the text editor and paste it into R1.
Then use the R1 editor to format the text.

I think I've used notepad when C&P failed before....only problem is I can' t remember if it worked or not.

You've noticed I was a victim of the red and white software upgrade in my "rules to a gun fight" thread. I didn't notice until this morning...

Yep, I noticed and same for me with the Earnhardt post this morning.
That's how I fixed my post today.

I tried to use my outlook copy and pasted to a new e-mail sheet and it crapped out on me.

Sheese....how hard is it to get C&P right? it's only been around since window 3.1
