I just read that somewhere... interesting on several levels if you like to take a simple bit of news and speculate a bunch.  WHICH I DO.  Shoot me, I'm a thinker.  I'm capable of original thought.

For Foyt, this is a golden opportunity to SHINE.  Personally... I don't think the kid can think his way out of wet paper sack but this is his chance to race like a BIG BOY not running for his father/grandfather/uncle (whatever their weird family and their adoptions has worked out).  AJ, Jr. was a big deal and the sport blew by him. His engineering skills vs. a team of MIT graduates... you see the results and know who's ahead.  Jr. was kind to put his kids/grandkids WHATEVER THEY ARE IN REAL LIFE in cars... but AJ4 needs some real engineers and real teams to run for and see what he has.

Its hard to blame him for failing MISERABLY in the Busch series when they stuck him with about 7 different crew chiefs in 7 weeks straight.  The team didn't have the resources that he needed to learn.  Did he show sparks of speed and brilliance.  UH, he looked horribly actually.  DNQ, WRECK, etc.

Evernham needs to release Foyt from any contract they have... he's done ZIP to help the kid since the 38 team went Chevy and made it impossible to run Foyt, under contract to Dodge.  Foyt would have been at Indy in May given the choice... but Big Ray was so busy whispering sweet nothings in that "chick"'s ear ( the one that looks like a 14 yr old boy and is on a similar development deal) to pay attention to anything that made sense.  NO, he's under contract said Big Ray.  UH, then put him in SOMETHING!!!!! ARCA... anything!!!!!!!!

OK... time for Foyt4 to shine.  If he wants to be a race car driver... he better take his vitamins and actually TRY this weekend.  He may have a chance at a ride in the IRL if he runs top 5... I have a funny feeling he'll show his rust and will not be in the top 10 at the checkered.  Funny feeling that he'll greet concrete this weekend as well.

Have an Andretti and a Foyt EVER run as teammates before?  Think AJ4 is doing this to piss off his Andretti-hating grandfather?  Will he be vindicated if he does really well?  Interesting weekend coming up.

AJ4 in a quality car?     Do you suppose he might actually be able to finish higher than 17th?

The difference in IRL Koolaid and CCWS Koolaid is night and day.  I'll spell it out for you:  IRL flavor makes you think your series will survive if only for the big date in May, makes you like cars passing, makes you think single-file follow the leader racing is boring, makes you think that the U.S. is a good place to race.

CCWS?  You think your shtt smells like roses, that pink tires are COOL, that push to pass is NOT a video game gimmick, that Nelson isn't just an 80's hairband, that F1 sets the best example for how to run a series, that racing at an airport in Waichong Province, Taiwan (hold it... that race was scheduled and just cancelled.  SORRY) is a smart business model for sponsors in the United States, that if pass someone it should be in the pits and not on a race track, that watching a race in person is boring but that hospitality tents with Kenny G in the background are awesome.

OK... one other sidenote about Franchitti and his ego being parked for the weekend... I haven't read much about him or his contract or how badly he was hurt running another racing series on his off-weekend, but it can't be a good sign for him returning to AGR next year.

You probably shouldn't fly internationally with a concussion, but they pulled the plug on him pretty quickly it seemed.  Is there trouble in paradise with his extraordinary contract demands?  I mean, he thinks he should be paid triple what anyone else does apparently despite not winning that many races and heaven forbid a championship.

Does this mean we've seen the last of the Franchitti attitude and his rambling "see how smart I am, I'm really not loopy at all" wife at the IRL races or just the end of AGR or is everything hunky dory??????

As everyone knows by now, the name Foyt does NOT make you a race driver. Simple, no ?

I don't have much hope for a good finish by AJ4, but as far as Franchitti is concerned....good riddance.  He can take his whining somewhere else.

Jox Cousteau:
The IRL's talent pool just got shallower.

Don't forget Sarah will be back for this race too.

Doesn't this march backwards, seem kind of odd?

Big title match-up, one of four are contenders and then we have these leftover scrubs, who couldn't cut it in NASCAR, as rolling chicanes. Big Smile [:D]

One of the most popular and American drivers, may be trying out NASCAR. And I bet he's one that's good enough to make it.

Mr. Judd is dropped for a non-existant concussion.

Big announcment is Iowa is one the schedule for next year, Honda is going to a longer lasting engine.

Gene Simmons to start wearing his red ping pong ball nose, because he's a BOZO, stealing the IRLs money.

Rex Grossman returns to the Bears lineup. Oh wait, that's the best news to come out of IL this weekend. Stunned [:|]

You know....Larry Foyt got top 15's when running good equipment...(#14 car with a EMS engine) and has a top 5 in ARCA. Why hasn't Larry gotten the chances that #4 has gotten? Larry has more talent.
