Baze may not have been invited, but my thoughts have been that he might have declined the offer for several reasons.

Baze is 54 years old, no spring chicken, and so might be dubious of joining a group that in 2007 has had more distractions and instability than all other teams combined.

Also the supposedly new engine debut and testing is yet to come which could be more distraction. I have wondered if the new engine may have already been secretly tested; could the new engine have been in Medlens car at the time of his fatal accident?

The personality of Baze seems to be somewhat more reserved and quiet and he might have doubts about joining a group that is rather boisterous and with a carnival like demeanor.

Also, there's the perception, however slight, that he could be perceived as a FORCE/FORD lapdog and I can't see Baze being happy as such.

I will not be too surprised if he appears with Snake racing.

You might check again but Whit is in his mid 40's and not mid 50's.  Other than that, everything else you said are very good points.  Whatever the reason, I think it's a certain Baze won't be with Team Castrol at all.   It will be interesting to see if Whit comes back in FC or TF and does he return to the ranks of the privateer which is where he started out?

FC or TF, he'll be back and all this could be a blessing in disguise. Many, many people are Baze fans and no doubt the owners and sponsors are aware of this. I would love to see him on a Snake team.

I wonder if it meant to say 1963' because I was born in 56' and at 22 years old I and my wife knew Whit personally as we met him in the pits in 1978' at Atlanta.  In fact, Whit taught my wife some neat effects using the F-Stop on her Canon AE1 and that kid was amazing with a camera.  He had some books of his pics at the time and WOW! 

At that time, Whit was 15 years old if memory serves me but the fact of the matter I was 7 or 8 years older than he so that puts him somewhere in his early to mid 40's as I'm 51 and within days of 52. 

That would also put his birth around 1963' too. He told us and anyone who would listen that one day he'd drive a FC and to see this dream come true is just such a feel good story for us.  We are and always will be Whit Bazemore fans.

Or perhaps its that fact that Baze and force or far from friends. Remember  few years back when force won teh championship, Baze finished second or thrid and Force had hired  T Pedregon. When the season was over and still to this day Baze was crying about it and has taken the chance to bash Force and his team at every opportunity. No I think what is keeping Baze out of a Froce ride is his additute and the fact that they just dont like each other.

BTW, Nitroholic, I love the War Eagle Picture. The owners of that car and my family were very very close friends back then and we spent a lot of time at the track with them, Im miss those days. Also I loved the MR joles...I had never heard two of them, I got a great laugh.
