It wasn't a very good car.  Great job by Gordon and the crew to get a 3rd though.  They're pretty far off at this point.

He had an okay car the whole night. The pit crew did a phenomal job all night and Jeff did a nice job of driving the car all night and keeping it off the wall one of only a few cars that did not have a scratch on the race car.  It certainly helped that he had started in the top 10 and stayed there virtually all night because if he had started in mid-pack, I can guarantee he would have had a hard time finishing in the top five let alone top ten. Gordon knows the team is off and there working to make it better. I know the 24 team has been wanting to go to Kentucky and test for the 1.5 mile tracks but they haven't been able to go because of work going on at the track recently. If the team doesn't perform well enough in the All-Star race then I'm sure they'll make a stop to test at Kentucky before the Coke 600. It seems all the HMS cars are just a little bit off on horsepower and handling compared to the 99 and the Gibbs cars. I'm sure they'll find something soon that will help them compete with the 99 and the Gibbs cars.

Maybe Jeff can find smoe more of those "magic" tires.
Jr can find his old restrictor plate
and JJ can find all those goodies Chad had taken away the last few years.
and that other guy can find a new team.
