How a soldier really feels...
8/30/2006 7:17 PM
Yesterday, I ran into the wife of a soldier who had just returned home from Iraq. She was buying him Simply Sleep because he had not been able to sleep since he got back. He was working with the new Iraq army. And apparently, he saw a lot of bloodshed. His wife was saying that he had some really gruesome pictures of some of the things he saw. YET....his wife was not bitter about how he had to go. She was not angry that her husband was now forever mentally scarred. She was PROUD. She said he was PROUD of the work he did there. He felt that his sacrifice was worth it. He did not feel that his time there was wasted. Nor do I. Thank you, Brian (the soldier) for your service and sacrifice.

Hopefully he gets over that. I was in the first gulf war. Marine. The combat I saw was only 4 days. But I did see enough to know what its like to get shot at and return fire, and see horribly mangled corpses. Today it is a fond memory and experience. This war is alot worse and I feel bad for the guys and gals that are serving.
Thats why I am not as gung ho as alot of others here about war. I don't believe our leaders are telling us the truth about why we are there, or at least not the whole truth and they are treating us as if they are selling us something we might not need, as bad as our leaders need. Lets face it their asses are not getting shot at, so it can't be as personal.

Nobody in the United States wanted nor likes this or any war. That's the dirty little secret that some folks want to keep dirty and secret.
That's why it's called Bush's war. Cuz Bush just loves the shedding of the blood and the mangled corpses of our young servicemen and women.
All for oil, too.

Thanks to Brian and all our military personnel serving in Iraq and everywhere else in the world. Y'all are the best.

Its not that I'm gung ho for the war, its just that I think those soldiers need our support and we need to be united as a Country. I think those soldiers are doing an honorable service, I don't think they are wasting their time.
And, thank you for your service in the Gulf War. You guys, I think, kinda get the shaft when it comes to gratitude about serving our Country. All of ya'll made great sacrifices too. So, a belated although very sincere THANK YOU.
