This is my first post, so I apologize if this is a silly question,

But what is Matt McCall doing nowadays? Does he still drive for Yates? 

The last I heard Stephen Leicht was running the remaining Busch races in the 90 car and Yates dropped his ARCA program during his recent reorganization to concentrate his efforts on the Cup side.

I have been a fan of Matt since the Driver X series, but I havent run across much news on him or his future.

I WISH I KNEW

 HE JUST FINISHED A RACE AT HICKORY SPEEDWAY (Bobby Isaac Memorial)  IN IS OWN CAR AND CAME IN 5TH DUE TO ENGINE PROPLEMS.

YATES BETTER DO SOMETHING FAST OR HE WILL END UP WITH ANOTHER TEAM AND THAT WOULD BE A BIG MISTAKE  FOR YATES

It is weird, he never really had a chance at Yates. He had an awesome run at Daytona in the ARCA car, had like 3 races in the Busch car and struggled, then just disappeared.

In fact, I think at one point he was ahead of Stephen Leicht.  If I remember correctly, when the Elliott Sadler rumors were just starting,  Yates pulled a last minute switch and put McCall into the Busch car (and pulled Sadler out ) and put Leicht into the ARCA car at Memphis. (Leicht went on to win that race)

I think once Eddie D'Hondt was fired it sealed his fate with Yates. 

Too bad he cant go back to Roush.  Roush seems to be using all of the Driver X guys in one way or another.

I am a Yates fan, and love the 38 car, but maybe getting away from yates would be the best thing for him.

Again I have to say I hope Robert doesn't make another mistake like he did with Kasey. It seems that Mr Yates hasn't learn anything from that situation.  I have written a few time to the RYR web site to ask about McCall but was never given a logical answer. Just a beating around the bush type answers. I also am wondering if McCall is still with YATES. I try to keep up with McCall racing schedule by going to his web site but the web site is very rarely updated. I go to his web site everyday, hoping I would read what Matt is doing and where he might be racing.

Well lets hope that Mr Robert Yates wakes up soon and give McCall a ride and this time with better equipment. Don't blame McCall for the accidents it's that dam "90" car. it seems no one can drive it.

I agree with you totally, especially this year.  Yates has struggled at seemingly every non restrictor plate track this year.  I dont think Matt ever really had a chance to show his stuff.

But in all honesty, I think Matt is done at Yates. 

I remember reading somewhere that Stephen Leicht will be driving the 90 Busch car the rest of this year and all of next year.  Unless, Yates is going to expand his Busch operation (maybe through his alliance with the Rensi Team???) that makes Matt the odd man out.

Who knows though. Yates is such a hard guy to read.  Maybe he keeps Matt under contract but lets him race for another team.  Matt may be good insurance especially if things with David Gilliland dont work out next year. 

But, get him back at some sort of track already!
