Sammy vs the Dupe
8/16/2006 2:09 PM
Haven't been on here in a loooong time, and when I do get on I see the same post from the same guy. Something about Sammy's winning percentage at Knoxville, it usually comes up when the Clod has been embarrassed somehow. Let's see.... Last time I walked by Sammy's trailer, his Dad was standing right there. So was his wife. And his kid. Contrast that with the Dud. I don't know if anyone remembers, but several years ago on one of the TNN shows they interviewed several of the younger drivers (would have been Saldana, Schatz, Chessons, McMahon etc at the time) and asked them who the most helpful person was. Almost to a man they said Sammy. I don't seem to recall the name Lasoski in the conversation. Sammy even crewed the Chessons one spring. He's HELPING his son get started. Jury's out on whether the Dope is actually helping his nephew or is just mugging for the camera again. I don't think Sammy even knows where the camera is most of the time, if he does he tries to get away from it. Even if you left out the innovation and technology that Sammy has brought to the sport, the Dunce and Sammy should not even be mentioned in the same paragraph (although I just did it). Yeah, Sammy's getting older, it's sad to me at least. And I'll be sad when he finally hangs it up, I don't think there's too many people who have advanced sprints from a car perspective as much as he has. But at least I'll know that he passed A LOT on, in technology and knowledge to younger drivers. What has the 1/2 of a Higginsville, MO sandwich passed on? How to find the camera when it suits you?

Great post Spiro. Never rooted for Sammy, but have alot of respect for him. Gotten his autograph numerous times and he as always been very gracious. So what if he's only won one Knoxville Nationals. It one more than alot of other drivers have.

Yeah, I actually used to root against him when I was a kid. When I got older I realized it was just because everyone else seemed to hate him, so why not? I watched him more closely, learned a little about him and became a big fan, he's done nothing to prove me wrong so far. Yeah, he doesn't give exciting interviews, so what. Looks to me like he isn't fond of tooting his own horn, all he ever talks about is the car. Besides, ever heard Lance Dewease? Apparently how you perform in front of the camera has nothing to do with how you race. I hope to see Sammy down at Kevin's trailer for many years to come.

Yeah I have an agenda, I wanted to see if you have anything besides your one little factoid about the Nationals. Anything else? Apparently not, because it's the same thing you were using about 4 years ago. Come on, give us all a peek into the mind of a Lasoski fan. I'm dying to see what's in there. Pour your heart out, convince the world why you seem to think that one piece of info puts Lasoski somewhere above Sammy, and why you seem to feel the need to bring it up whenever the Bullfishdude has a bad day. You can't possibly be hanging it all on that one trivia question, can you? Here, I'll get you started. The 4 Nationals, and unless I'm behind the times, still the all-time feature winner at the same track, won points in the WoO. Subjects to avoid - Jimmy Carr, Tony Stewart, apparently his whole family. Come on, you MUST be holding some knowledge back on us. Some inside info, something. Let it all out man.

I recall a TNN reporter asking Sammy why Lasoski visited his trailer during one of the Bristol shows. Sammy said, "He's just looking for the TV cameras."
Randy has lost all credibility on this and other message boards - he gets no traction.

I have sit here and watch poster after poster bash Sammy and always felt sorry for his fans as it isn't right to bash any driver. I'm not even a Sammy fan and have jumped in more then once to take his side as he has done wonders for the sport. Like samsthone posted to me Sammy fans are just fed up with the bashing... Well apparently she is wrong because it seems the Sammy fans are on the bashing wagon now.. If you wanted to make a point with REF why would you bash a driver to do it????

I remember that night well. Lost in the whole Bullfishdude thing was an AWESOME race between Sammy and Shepard. Anyone watching that race and how tight and clean they raced each other would have a hard time understanding the Dud/Madsen thing. Also lost was the relationship that Sammy and Shepard apparently had, they were out riding motorcycles earlier that day, and Shepard's interview after the race was one of the best interviews I've seen from a sprint driver. Darn it, now I'm going to have to find that tape and watch it tonight. I guess I'll mow the lawn tomorrow.

Sammy fan, singular. You don't see any other Sammy fans bashing Dud on this thread, do you? This has less to do with Dud than one particular poster who feels the need to bring up his little Sammy fact when the thread has absolutely nothing to do with Sammy. So I gave him a whole thread on that exact topic so he could go nuts. I doubt he will, he'll just keep sniping from the sides.
