Wally's dumb comments

Wally said during the race that these cars (stock cars) are the hardest to drive. He said, I should know, I've driven them all.

Oh really Wally? I've yet to see you in a Midget or a Sprint car on dirt.

Wally has driven sprints and midgets and a ton of other cars too.  You might recognize his name - his daddy used to run CART back in their glory days.

and BTW, as someone who over the last 30 years has been blessed to drive a tremendous variety of vehicles from Dragsters to Midgets to SilverCrown to IMCA to NASCAR cup cars and trucks to CART and IndyCars to SCCA TransAm and Grand Am, not to mention racing airplanes and powerboats - I whole heartedly agree with WALLY that NASCAR Cup and Busch cars are the most difficult vehicle to drive IN A CROWD.

One car by itself on the track, anybody can be a hero and turn decent lap times, but put 43 cars together inches apart doing 180+ and its a whole 'nuther story.  The scariest moment of my life was being the meat in a 3-wide sandwich at California Speedway, flying into turn 3 at 190 and suddenly feeling the rear end go away due to loss of aero grip.  The first time I ever felt that, I peed my pants.

Oh, and by the way, go ahead and ask Steve yourself.  Remember back when he used to drive NASCAR for Kenny Bernstein?  Steve went back to WOO because he never did get comfortable in Cup cars.

You can also ask the same question of JJ Yeley.  I used to watch JJ win sprint car races at Manzaneta all the time (one time back when he was around 16, he won a heat race with only 3 wheels).  He went on to win the USAC triple crown, but he has yet to do anything in NASCAR.  He will, but these big heavy cars take a lot of time to get used to when you are used to driving anything that has any sort of grip or handling.

I remember his Dad drove the "Vita Orange Juice Spl" for Tass Vattis. They are from New Brunswick NJ.

I don't remember Wally Jr driving Midgets or Sprint cars.

Maybe not professionally, but he's driven them.
