2006 IRL Season Has Been The Best Ever!

Im really tired of hearing all of the IRL bashers, and people dowing the IRL, the 2006 season has been the most exciting, and most competitive season in years, and yes its been all Penske and Ganassi but thats what makes the series great because they are one step ahead of the other teams and they have to go out every week and race harder to beat them and it makes the racing better. And i dont think its funny for people laughing and making remarks about teams dropping out, its not easy as we all know to run any racing team it cost alot of money and without sponsorship its harder. I hope that the IRL will soon have a field for 2007 that is about 25-27 cars and more sponsors, but it would be nice to see the merge next year, cause i like champ car too, we need to pull together to save open wheel racing something we all love.
Good Luck To The Series & Teams And I'll Be Going To Races & Watching All Of Them On Tv!

I believe the reactions of some of the posts were to be directed at what appears to be the arrogant leadership of both Champ and IRL. They sit back and watch the leagues lose their fans and teams to make a quick buck at this rate they'll be lucky to field thirty-three for Indy five hundred. Sponsors are leaving for the same reasons everyone else is two or three teams doesn't generate enough coverage.

The best was right before all the Champ Car defectors came over. Since then I've lost interest and what little I have watched I thought sucked.

This year has been boring due to Penske and Ganassi winning every race. Last year AGR dominated the series to near boredom. The best years were like 2002-2003. I'm an IRL fan, but something is missing this year.

I was a fan until the defectors came over as well. The Hornish Panther years were fun to watch, but since then it's been CART with the japanese engines and Tony George's lies.

Exactly. Plus the races are only 200 or 300 miles or so wich hurts them some IMO.

Theres only 18 cars in both OW series keep that in mind. It seems in every IRL oval race this year the entire field is being lapped before they even hit 200 miles. The races are fine being 300-400 miles, but more then that is ludicrous. The Indy 500 is a special event. If your gonna do alot of 500 mile races in a season you need more then 18 cars out there.
