Mc Cain wants to cancel debat. The great diversion!

Behind by five to seven points in the polls. Eight national polls show him down by seven points. Mc Cain cancels his campaign to help with the financial crisis!!! Are you kidding me here you bummified idiot. Like you will save the day and the nation by making the trip? He knows he is losing the battle and this political ploy will show his real colors.
More than anything right now we Americans deserve the debate as planned.
Very cowardly to me. He should be interested in getting votes instead of losing them.
Unbelievable...........

Okay, what better why to show leadership than actually lead. He owned Uncle O on this move, not only is he willing to risk the election to help the people, he beat Barry to it. It’s a foreign policy debate and everyone for the most part expects McCain to mop the floor with Barry. So why would McCain be skeert of debating Berry? He’s doing what leaders do Country above self. Besides the debates will go on they’ll just be delayed a little longer. We pay three out of four of these goons to lead, funny only one wants to do his job. I’m sure the libs will try and spin this as a McCain stunt but then again they worship and the foot of their god so what should we expect.
100% here Mr. McCain thanks for looking out for the little man.

Before you post and make your self look bad, at least check the internals on the polls. One of them that had "the bammer" up by 9 checks 2 out of every 3 a democrat and 20% higher on the black voter. ie there cookin' the books for cryin' out loud. one Ohio and one Pa newspaper have already ran polls showing 30 percent of the DEMOCRAT white voters won't vote for "the bammer" because he's black, let alone he's a lunatic. There is at least one, maybe more Union bosses calling for there members to vote for McCain, the head of the union called those bosses, troubling. Go figure. You need to go read up on the Bradley Effect, its going to hit and hit hard, mark my words. If "the bammer" doesn't have a 15 to 20 point lead, he aint got a snowballs chance in hell! Duane

The last I looked McCain was a Senator still. So is Obama. They both should be there and pospone the debate, Seems we pay them to be Senators. Of course Obama's vote would just be, " Present. "

In 1864 when Gen. Sherman was marching on Atlanta, we had a debate. In 1944 when D-day was going on in Normandy, we had a debate.
Give Palingate more time to prepare for her debate next Thursday?
The dems will show up, how bout the pubs?

There is an awful lot of cynicism in posts to this thread.
Is it possible that McCain is just being McCain?
For those of you who don't think Palin is ready for primetime, and that this is just a ploy to buy more time for her, I would suggest that you haven't been paying attention to her performance in past debates or during the interviews she's given.
Don't read the spin from either side.
This debate was scheduled a year ago, long before the candidates were known, or this problem cropped up.
McCain is his own man. He's not afraid to debate. Accusations of that sort are just the silliest of charges. They have no basis in reality.
Duane is correct about that poll put out by the WashPo yesterday. The internals are weighted heavily for Democrats and blacks.
That poll is not a reflection of a decision by the country. It is designed to make news and sway opinion.
I just read an article, and at this time in 1976, Jimmy Carter was up on Gerald Ford by 30 points. He only won by 2.
If Obama goes into the election in November with the polls still looking the way they are today, he's done.
Another poll, shows that 18% of voters are undecided. Couple that with the Pennsylvania poll that shows 1/3 of Democrats are not likely to vote for him because he's black, and the message is clear.
He's in trouble. Can he still win. Of course. It's not over.
But any talk of McCain's demise is quite premature. He has been written off many times over the last 18 months, and here he is in a great position to win the Presidency.
When it comes to polls, the pundits have a love affair. I read a lot of pundits, and regardless of affiliation, they have one major resounding theme. It's a game to them. They live in a bubble, and they rarely get outside of it.
The only polls I really pay attention to are Zogby and Rasmussen and even those can't be counted on this far out.
Rush Limbaugh has it correct, and he's been saying this for many years. The polls will get closer to reality by election day, because the pundits don't want to lose credibility.

Man, everybody discounts the Bradley Effect, I KNOW personally people that will and have lied to the pollster, so as not to look like a racist, I tell them just because you don't want to vote for the black guy, doesn't make you a racist, you name the issues you disagree with and that will give you the footing you need. Race need never be used at all. One of the eastern states, "the bammer" was supposed to win handily, and lost by the margin he was ahead, that is the Bradley Effect, it doesn't work in a open vote (caucus) cause your neighbor can see ya, but behind the curtain, things change dramatically. I'm not preaching doom and gloom for "the bammer", I'm just saying that it is a lot bigger then its getting credit for. Duane
